Keep it green.

There are two good reasons to keep memories of your former self fresh and green. The first reason is so that you do not repeat past mistakes. Your new self does not want to give up and go back to past behavior. The other reason to keep your past fresh in your mind is for encouragement when you are feeling you don't look any different or you aren't where you want to be.

When you look back, you can see the difference. Remember how ill you were and how much better you feel now. Although you may want to forget the pain of your obesity, the remembrance of your old self is a valuable tool for success.

Action for the day: Meditate on how you used to live your life before surgery. Close your eyes and imagine how you used to climb the stairs or how it used to feel squeezing into a chair or booth. Keep your memory green.

It is funny that you mention that now, as I have been looking back to a year ago a lot this week.  On Sunday, it will be one yr since I fell and shattered my knee.  i spent the next almost 8 weeks confined to a wheelchair.  I had WLS in May.  I continued to use a cane until not that long ago.  Now, I am working out at the gym 3 days ago and walking on other days.  Along with that, I have lost 80 pounds.  My blood sugar has bone from close to 500 to running below 150.  While I still have a long way to go, i must say, it has been an eventful year.
