Hello All - Amie here... I am hoping for surgery in May of this year.  It took me a long time to get to the decision to pursue surgery, I've fought this losing battle for so long I finally realized I simply can't do it on my own and I am committed now to surgery and can't wait for the day to get here!  I actually started this journey last year but my company specifically excluded WLS - but they are covering it this year and I am beyond excited.  This will be a challenging road, I know but the idea of having a tool that will physically control my hunger is a huge deal to me as I just never feel full.  Just after committing to surgery and embracing my choice I found out I was getting laid off in a few months, this has really been a blow to me - but I am NOT going to let this be an excuse or reason to avoid surgery.  I am moving my daughter and I into a small apartment next month to make sure we are settled and living on a lot less before I get to surgery and my end date so we can survive on unemployment and still pay COBRA while I am on the new job hunt, especially with surgery coming up and the need for follow up and after care.  I am focused on success... I have already started replacing breakfast with a shake, and my March I am going to be on all shakes (and a bar or two) as the surgeon said he wanted me on this for two months before surgery... this will undoubtedly be the hardest part of prep for me. Any good recipes for BA shakes?  I'll be looking for good ones on my two months leading up to surgery!!

Anyway - I just wanted to drop by and say Hi to all....

Thank you Amie for posting a bit about yourself. I'm so excited for you as you continue on this journey to greater health & wholeness. It is an amazing process. Hard and wonderful all in one.
For me,  RNY has made me healthier inside & out.
I'm sorry that your job will be ending. Keep up the positive attitude about moving forward with your plans for surgery,  I'm praying ( if that is okay with you) for your job to be extended or a new better job with WLS coverage, needs supplied and great courage during this time.
I hope you are encouraged and strengthened.
Hugs
Annie

Hi Annie - thanks much - I was so glad to find this site.  There are so many moving parts both in my life and related to surgery and it's great to find a place where there is support and information from others who have been through it and who are going through it...

Thanks again!
