Helping Others Find Their Way to a Life They Deserve!
Hello all! Happy 2011! This is the first year of the rest of my life! Christ became my Lord and Savior in 2008, but I was still a prisioner to food and obcessive overeating. 2011 is the year I break all the chains!
I am Jennifer, I'm 39 yrs old, and I choose life! My journey started one afternoon while i was sitting checking emails, and looked outside to see my beautiful daughter and her daddy playing with the neighbor kids next door. Their mom and grandmother were speed-walking around our culdesac and they periodically stopped to do squats, jumping jacks, etc. I saw my daughter run to them, and start copying them! She was mimmicking someone else! Not her mom, because my fat butt was inside looking at sales for fat clothes!
I decided then, that i was officially powerless over my disease. I prayed and prayed, because i had always thought WLS was a cop-out. I researched for ages, signed up for a band seminar, and told my family. FF two months, and here i am...
I made a bet with my boss ( who is my childhood mentor) to walk 1 mile a day everyday for a year to helpme lose 100 lbs. I agreed aand when i succeed, she takes me on a $1000.00 shopping spree. She hates to shop, but she loves me and my family, she is oneof my biggest supporters! So on nov. 15th i started walking, by the 20th i had a pedometer, my phone set to iNXS on pandora and off i went. I had bleeding blisters by day 3, but switched to chef clogs to give my heels a break.
I went to my seminar, and then to my first group meeting at WFUBMC. I am blessed to live 10 minutes from one of the best medical facilities in the east. They have a hardcore bariatric program and a laundry list of success stories. My nutritionist Amber is the best, and i chose Dr. stephen McNatt for his candidness and smartass attitude. I am a bit of a smartass myself and need a bantering pal.
I went in deadset on a band, and was quickly swayed when i was told that for my BMI and goal it could take 5 yrs or more to reach 50% of my goal. I was initially afraid of RNY but decided that God has brought me this far, so he is telling the docs what i need to be successful.
I started my food diary on the 13 th of December and am taking in no more than 1800 cals/day. I have lost 10.5 lbs since that day. I have fallen in love with greek yogurt and soymilk, and am now a crazed label reader. My net diary has helped me stay accountable.
I begin my 90 day aetna required supervised program on the 4th and hope to have surgery in early April.
I am so grateful to OH and to Tinks inspirational story...i have found mynew support home and am blessed.
My psych had recommended i find an online group, and i have officially adopted you all!
I am rambling, and feel the urge to walk, so i am off to walk in the rain....hugs to all my new LifeStarts WLS family...thank you for being part of my journey!

Hi Jen,
I'm so glad you've found us at Life Starts. I pray you feel welcomed and supported.
You are on an amazing journey. You are not alone in this walk, I know that you know God is there with you but so are we. I understand so much of where you are. I have been there. I had RNY 12-21-09. I just celebrated my 1 year mark. RNY was the best thing I've done for myself. It has been hard at times but very worth it. My diabetes is in remission, sleep apnea better and I feel better than I have in a very long time.
I'm praying for you~
Hugs
Annie
