OTHER SCALE VICTORIES

Most times we guage our success by the number on the scale. Have you ever congratulated yourself for being off your diabetic meds, or being able to cross your legs :?
Take a look at this hand out and read about other scale victories... and start patting yourself on the back for things other than that " scale number "

Recently, I went on a business trip to Missouri where I flew from San Diego to Tulsa on Southwest Airlines.  The last time I flew on an airplane, I was 85 lbs heavier and was quite uncomfortable.  This trip was so much easier.  I was able to easily fit into the coach style seat and was very comfortable with the seat-belt around my lap.  It was a wonderful feeling not having to worry about who was going to sit next to me and how I would feel at the end of the flight.  My only challenge was not having any padding on my tail bone so my rear end was a bit sore after the flight (lol).  I can bring a cushion to take care of this next time.  I am very grateful that I am feeling more comfortable with my body.

John,
Is that not the greatest feeling ?
I remember having to ask for a seat belt extention. Now I don't have to do that anylonger ... and boy does that feel good , No number on a scale could take away that feeling,
Congratulations my friend ,Congrats !

There are plenty of non-scale victories to be grateful for.  I am off my diabetic meds, I don't need my C-pap machine anymore, and my BMI is out of the morbidly obese category.  More than that, I feel so much better and more confident than I have in years.  I put myself out there more because of that and am trying things now that I wouldn't have 90+ pounds ago; like weight machines and a "Pump Up Pilates" class.  No way the old me would have done that because I would be too self conscious. It helps when I write these things down because it is too easy to get caught up in the scale number, good or bad.

I agree Tink. For me being almost a year from surgery. My weight loss has slowed so I'm always looking for non scale victories. I've had many...
...crossing my legs
...wearing a size 10 jeans
...feeling better than I've felt in years
...fitting in an airplane seat and resturant booth
...people treat me different (I'm not sure if it's because
of the weight loss or because I have more confidence)
