LifeStarts WLS
Hi everyone!
Just started my journey and joined the group. Started this process 3-4 years ago and stopped just before surgery. Told myself it was to care for a family member, but deep down know that I probably wasn't ready. Now I am. My body is starting to fail me and I want to be active in my older years. I hear that this is not an easy path, but faced with a growing list of physical ailments, will choose to work hard to get my life back. After years of nurturing everyone else, I realize I have to focus on me for awhile. Just started my pre-op weight loss and know I will need to reach out for support to be successful. Would be so thankful for any and all advise and help along the way. Excited to get to know y'all.
I'm so glad for you that you are in a place to care for yourself.
It's amazing how you just are ready when you are ready.
I am 11 months out from RNY. It has been one of the best things I've ever done for myself. I've lost 100 pounds and feel better than I have is years. It is hard work but
well worth it.
We are here to encourage, so ask away.
I look forward to getting to know you.
Hugs~
Annie

Boy have you come to the right place ...
I am 7 years out and it has been no pic Nick , but all in all I have had no complications from the surgery itself. I have Addison's disease ( I have no adrenal glands due to tumors ) these where there when I was Obese ,
I like you contemplated the surgery 3 years before going through with it , I had went to see a surgeon for a hernia repair , not knowing he did weight loss surgery too , He told me before he would do the hernia repair I had to get the weight off . So we submitted the insurance and I was turned down. To me this was my sign that it was just not my time .
Then I found OH ... and a wonderful lady name Leilani .. I read her profile and I looked at my daughter with tears in my eyes and said .. if this 400 plus pound women can do this , I know I can . So the journey began .
One thing I can offer you is that you need to follow your surgeons advice , drink your water , exercise and get in that protein. When he tells you to supplement with vitamins you need to follow his directions .
Do not compare yourself to others . You will lose weight at your own pace. AS for me ... I knocked it out of the ball park. I swam each day , ran each day , I did cardio ,, I did it all , and bt 90 days out I was down 100 pounds,. this was unusual for a woman , so my NP told me I had the metabolism of a man. I went frin 359 ti 125 and have maintained it thus far .
I am now a support group leader and a Bariatric Life coach. I love to give back, anything I can do to help others brings me such joy,
If you have any questions or concerns, there are many here that can and will share with you their stories l
Well all the best to you , keep us posted and know we love and respect you ,
Always,
Tink
