Have a "wacky-day plan."

Life is not always predictable. You wear a new fall sweater to work and the temperature climbs to 80 degrees. You plan a weekend away, and you get the flu. For WLS patients, unexpected events can ruin a good plan for the day. For example, you get delayed by a client, and by the time you finally get home you are so hungry you choose a quick, refined carbohydrate to eat.

When you get hit with a wacky day, have in place a "wacky day plan" so you don't get off track. For example, some people keep the fixings for a protein drink in their car for emergency situations.

Action for the day: Make a "wacky-day plan." What will you do to protect your healthy way of life when something unpredictable happens?

Molly,

Every day in my life is a wacky day.  I have two teenage daughters and I am the administrator of a branch campus of a large private university.  The thing I love about my life is that it is wacky.  I used to plan my week around the lunches and dinners I had with colleagues and community people.  I still plan my week around these meetings, but I now just have my small protein meal.  I use the rule of thumb(s).  I measure how much I eat by the size of my thumbs.  Each thumb is about one ounce. So, I eat two to three thumbs worth of fish, chicken, or other meat.  I have found that if I just go to enjoy the company, that they don't even notice how much or little I eat.  Then I have the same satisfaction of being out with my friends and colleagues.  Like you I keep my spare vitamins, calcium and protein drinks at my office, car, and at my mom's house.  I also keep a stash of sugar free Popsicles in my freezer at work, home and at my mom's house.  I have created a new wacky world that fits my wacky life.

Thanks for bringing up this topic,  You made my wacky day!!!

Thanks Molly, I try to be prepared. I know I do so much better when I have a plan B in place.
Have a great week.
