I was reading blogs of different people on obesityhelp.com and I read one about a guy who lost tons of weight and started running - 5K, 1/2 marathons, marathons, and even an Iron man. The more I thought about the more I wanted to try. I am still over 200 pounds. Running isn't easy but I am trying.  Some friends on Facebook gave me a website to help me get started. I wanted to share that with anyone here who would be interested. They have a link on Facebook where people share ideas about what is working and what is not, what hurts and what shouldn't. The website is www.coolrunning.com The program is called Couch-to-5K (C25K) It is a pretty good workout. I started yesterday. My body isn't giving me any love today but I feel good about myself. If you are interested in working through the program and want a support buddy let me know. Also if anyone lives in Maryland and wants to do a 5K in Fredrick, Md on Oct 16 for St. Jude's let me know! I feel good having a goal. Have you set any new goals lately?

I am so excited for you.  Running was a goal of mine but now with my knee and foot messed up I don't know if it can become a reality.  But, I haven't given up yet. I will definately check out the website.

 Great post Tracy!

The Couch-to-5k program, I've heard, is great!

Good luck in your training and 5k.

Keep us posted on your development and results!

Hey that's great...  I have heard of the C25K program, but haven't tried it yet. I have walked in two 5ks this year. I just did one on Aug 9th and shaved 17 minutes and 3 seconds off my first time that was 2 1/2 months prior. I am kinda of scared to really start running because of my knees. I like to jog on the treadmill now and then but hate to do it on the blacktop that you run on for these events. I want to be able to walk in my later years and not have severe knee issues. My husband is convinced I do the 5ks for the T-shirts. He may be right.

Good Luck in October..... who knows maybe you will do the Goofy race in Disney some day. That would be cool !

Thanks for the support everyone. I hope my knees can take the punishment :) I'll let you know if I survive to fini****hink it would be cool to collect t-shirts from 5Ks. That would be one way of getting new workout shirts as my body gets smaller than my current shirts.
