Once I made the decision to have surgery, it was still a long time in coming.  It  only took me about 10 years to be convinced to have surgery to  begin with.   I think the only day I was not overweight was the day I was born.  Several years ago, a close friend had the bypass and the dr. really botched it up and she almost died.  To this day, she still has a lot of problems with it. Since than I would not even discuss the possibility.  That is until my dr said it was that or have a stroke.  I opted for surgery.  I was set to have the sleeve on March 30th but life intervened.  On Feb 27th, I fell and broke my leg in 5 places.  So, no surgery until leg healed enough to walk, etc.  I spent 3 weeks in the hospital and when I was released I had to use a wheelchair and a walker to hop as I could not have any weight on that leg.  I have been having therapy since that time and now do not use any aids to walk.  I had the sleeve done on 5/25 and waiting for all the great results.

Hi and welcome to Life-Starts. I'm so sorry about your broken leg. What a difficult time.
Congratulations on getting the surgery done.  You will feel better as each week goes by. I felt a new normal by about week 9-10.
I had RNY on 12-21-09,  I've lost 75 pounds and feel really good. I'm doing water aerobics and walking for exercise.
For me this surgery has been amazing. It has been hard at times but worthwhile.
