Thinking about getting vertical gastric sleeve
Hi Donna,
I had RNY on 12-21-09. It was hard emotionally but not too much physically. It was at about the 8-9 week post surgery point that I had no regrets. Up to that point I went back & forth with what have I done to I did the right/best thing. Search your heart and you'll know.
I think I have a better/normal relationship to food most of the time. I eat becuase I need nutrition. I do miss a few things but I really try to look at ALL I can eat not what I can't or shouldn't.
My quality of life is so much better. I feel great, can walk without pain. I have more confidence. I'm beginning to love myself again.
Keep me posted on how you are.
I don't know anyone personally that had the VSG. I've read from folks that have and are happy.
Blessings~
Annie

I had RNY about a year ago and I must say it was the best decision of my life. I still enjoy food but at smaller portions and more thought out meals. It has caused me to be more disciplined which is something I always lacked in my life when it came to taking control over what I ate and did to my body.
Mentally, you have to truly be ready for the change that this operation will make in your life. I advise everyone to do their research prior to this surgery and know without a shadow of a doubt that this is the directin you want to go.
Support is so key for your emotional well-being wether its physical or online, its all acceptable if it is going to cause you to make positive changes to your life. With any bariatric surgery, find out all info on it, including VSG. I wish you all the best in your journey...

I had my program appts yesterday, gave them my medical records, met with the nutritionist, surgeon, and psych. At the end of the day, the program coordinator said "You won't have any problem getting insurance approval". I hope she's right. If she is, the surgery will be in July.
She also eased my mind about giving up food. After time, I will be able to eat food that tastes good. That's important to me, because I am definitely a foodie.
