My name is Charlotte. I'm a 30 year old mom of 2 from Indiana. I will be having Lap RNY on June 16th. I had my last pre-op appointment today, and am doing my 2 week "slim-fast diet".
Just thought I'd come out of lurk mode cause Tink was asking for more involvement on the message board.
Is anybody else here in Indiana? (Cincinnati Tri-state area?)

Hi Charlotte,

I am not from Indiana, but I wanted to wish you well on your surgery on 6/16. I joined fairly recently, but I have been lurking a tiny bit as well.

How has your 2 week diet going? I have heard it can be challenging, but worth it in the end. I wish you much success!

Thanks, Renee. It's frustrating at times. And then I remember..."Hey, I can eat jello!" And, I've been toying with my shakes to keep things from getting boring. I have a few different flavors and add fruit or coffee (decaf) to give myself options.  I drink my shake while making breakfast and lunch for the family, so I'm not tempted to snack on their meal. Will likely keep that habit after surgery as well.

I see you do not yet have a date. Good luck on that part of the journey.
I have seen lots of people frustrated with that. I got lucky there. I didn't have to fight at all, but I had 6 years of documentation sent in with my consultation information.

It sounds like you have a great plan going, Charlotte! Plus you only have 1 more week to go. It will fly by in no time at all.

That is a great idea to drink while preparing family meals. That is an excellent way to also increase fluid intake without much effort. I find that if I think about it too much it becomes a chore versus when I don't think about it and it feels effortless or second nature. I've been working on increasing my fluid intake to at least 64oz each day prior to surgery. It was a struggle in the beginning, but not so much now. Any good habits developed before surgery can only help afterwards...at least that is what I keep telling myself.

Nope, no date as yet. I am still going through the 6 month supervised diet my insurance requires. I am work in progress!

My insurance is pretty straight forward. I am timidly optimistic! Fortunately, I was pre-certified successfully with my original surgeon, so I am hopeful all will go well with my newest one (fingers & toes crossed).

ps I absolutely jello. Especially sf lime! I hope my taste buds will still love it post op.
