LifeStarts WLS
New here, and to all of this
Hello my name is Erica I'm 24 , married with 2 children ages 5 and 2. I have been thinking of wls for over a year now and just started making an effort towards it, i am going to a seminar this week and waiting for a call back on setting up my appt. with a surgeon. This is something me and my husband are going to do together so we can stick around for our kids. i am really looking for advice on how to make this process go as fast as it can, i am diabetic and trying to avoid insulin shots. i have been over weight all my life but at my biggest right now. so any advice you can give me will help thanks.
Hi Erica , And Welcome to LifeStarts .
Congratulations on taking one of the first step in the Weight Loss Surgery Process.. and that is joining a support group. I feel this is one of the best things a person can do to assist in their journey.
Just like you , I came to OH 5 years ago , seeking help from anyone .. anyone that could tell me just how they did it , all the questions and concerns I had .
Just like you too, I had 2 children and 2 grandchildren that needed me to be around, and here I am. 200 pounds gone , diabetes free.. and feeling better than ever .
What type of surgery are you and your husband thinking about ?
There are lot's to consisder when choosing the surgery that is right for you. How much weight you want to loose. Time frame . It is all relevant .
My best suggestion is to read profies on OH. To start researching the doctors in your area that perform this surgery .
I can tell you this much. I have been insulin free for 5 years . My cholestoral has been normal for 5 years .
Are you going to be self pay or do you have insurance?
Right now I would start with making contact with your surgeon, go to their meetings and start talking to others that have had the surgery .
What questions do you have for me , or for anyone reading ?
I am an open book , anything you want to know .. I am here for ..
Take care and I look forward to helping you along the way .
