Topic: Favorite Summer Time Memory
What is your favorite summertime Memory from childhood?  This year was my 30th class reunion.  An old classmate of mine found some pictures from the 5th grade and posted them on facebook.  Boy, did that bring back a lot of memories that I had filed away a long time ago.  We tend to remember High School Memories when we attend our class reunions, but rarely think about the same people as childhood friends.  I'd like to hear your stories from grade school, so my topic this month is: What is your favorite Summertime childhood memory?

Here's mine:  I loved spending the night at my friend Lori Jo's farm.  She had a horse that was not trained very well yet.  We would ride around on that crazy horse together, but could never get it to stop.  I remember spending what seemed like an eternity circling her house and yelling, try to catch her Mom's attention, so she would come out and stop the horse so we could get off.  Looking back as a Mom, I wonder if that wasn't a sly technique to keep the two of us out of trouble.

Topic: Question of the Month for Feb. 2010
What was the best Valentines card/gift you've ever gotten?

My Answer:
I liked the cute little valentines figurine that my husband gave me when we first started dating.  It was a little boy with his arms outspread and it said, "I love you this much."  He also gave me a single red rose in a bud vase.  I was still in High School when we started dating, but he still has that same sweet side...his gifts are more expensive now, but they all mean the world to me.

Topic: Things I'm Thankful For After 5 years
This month I'm celebrating the 5 year anniversary of my weight loss surgery.    I am at my goal weight, and my health hasn't been this good since 20 years ago.  I have a lot of energy and my weight related health problems are a thing of the past.  I feel like I have been given my life back.  I'm my "old me" again.  I am so thankful that my weight and health no longer limit what I can do, and no longer limits what activities I can enjoy with my family.  I am truely Blessed!!!

What are you most Thankful for this month?  I'd love to hear your inspirational stories.
Have a Wonderful ThanksGiving Holiday with your Family.
God Bless

What is your favorite Autumn memory from your childhood or as an adult?
As a child, I used to love to jump in the pile of leaves after my dad finished raking the yard.
As a adult, I love to go to Rocky Mountain National Park and watch the leaves change colors on the mountain side, and I love to listen to the elk bugle during their rutting season.  It sounds like "whale song".

Happy Valentine's Day

Does anyone have a cute Valentine's Day story to share?
Also, what was your favorite part of Valentine's Day as a child?

For me, I enjoyed the end of the school day when we opened our decorated shoe boxes full of Valentine's Cards.  I esp. liked it when there was gum or candy inside the envelope.

Topic: I need input on discussion topics
Are there any topics you'd like for us all to discuss during the upcoming year?  I have already posted 2 informational discussions on exercise (general guidelines, and a walking program).  Those were more informative, as I felt I had the expertise since I am a licensed physical therapist.  However, I'd like to open it up to more of a discussion of topics, where we can all share ideas and questions.  Then, if needed, I can seek outside advise if we need more expert information.

Topic: How is your progress with the goals you set for yourself?
I find that I have more succeess with following through on my goals when I am accountable to someone.  If that helps you also, please feel free to use this space as a place to do that.

I am making progress toward my goal of not drinking with my meals.  So far, I am able to avoid drinking with meals at lunch and supper.  In restaraunts, I have been able to only drink water until the meal comes, then stop after that ****il an hour later).
Let me know how you're doing with your goals.

Dottie:
Thank you so much for sharing this with me.  That was a great 50th wedding anniversary story.  You'll have to include that in your scrapbook somewhere.  (P.S. My folks are celbrating their 50th this year).
Be sure to record your "Wow" moments in a notebook so that you can look back on them once you reach your goal weight.  It will be good motivation to stay on track.
I like your goals for this year.  I wish I were going with you to Yellowstone.  I used to live in Powel, WY.  I hope you and your sis have a GREAT time.
