Topic: RE: You want the good news or the bad news first?
hi Becca....yes, Kauai is probably a bit less modernized than some of the other islands, particularly Oahu. I have been to most of them (not Mauai) and Kauai is my favorite. I bought a time share there so kind of always take a week or two each year.
I am so sorry to hear about the house/bank thing. Why do we hear on the news that banks are changing mortgages when we hear stories like yours? Is the mortgage bill a fake?
You know the peter principal don't you? It's sort of like this....the incompetent are continually raised up..meaning those of us that work hard and diligently get the shaft. In my field, you have to be careful to not be toooo good or gun ho becuase if you do,you get ostrisized (sp?) so I always try to do good work and be somewhat middle of the road. We can't suggest anything to the admins or the parents...we just keep our mouths shut. I see students with speech dificiencies and still, the parents don't want to hear it from me...the music teacher. So....(laughing a bit) maybe we can't be REALLY GOOD...sounds stupid but you know what I mean. Well, I've got to do some errands....hugz and YES, I'll answer my phone...I live in 619 so that is easy:)D

Hi Deanna
How was Kauaui? I've only been to Oahu. It was beautiful, but I've heard some of the other islands are less crowded and more relaxing. I can't remember which ones, but I think Kauaui is one of the more traditional Hawaiian islands, right? It's good to get away and enjoy family time, especially girl time!
I hate banks. They are such crooked liars. We are just gonna stay put until they force us to leave. I thought about getting a lawyer to fight it, but I'm broke. I can't affird a lawyer or a $3000.00 a month house payment. We bought when the market was peaking. We owe about double what our house is worth. I don't think it's even worth fighting for anymore. It's not the about house...it's four walls and a roof...it's the memories and friendships that will be tough to leave.
The kids seem ok with it. We have been on the fence about leaving for two years now (that's how long we have been working with the bank on a modification). I think they are used to the idea of moving now. My boys share a room so we said when we move we will get a four bedroom, so each of the three kids gets their own room... they are happy. I don't think it will all really soak in until we are driving away in a moving truck.
My hours got cut by a few of my bosses. It's that "cut off your nose to spite your face" thing. These offices are a flippin disaster when I start. I get there books squared away and streamline everything in there office. Then they cut me back. I feel kinda used. Maybe if I did a crappy job and kept things as a semi-disaster I would have job security :)...lol
Anyhow, enough of my sob stories.
Just a note- if you get a call from the 619 answer it! I could be PB. If you don't answer, they leave a message, and just keep going down the list filling in spots. My friend that got the cancellation date was at work when she got the call, so she let it go to voice mail. She called PB back 10 minutes later and they thought they may have already given the cancellation appointment to someone else. They had her call back the next day to find out if she would get the new date or have to stick with the original date! The wait to find out was torture for her.
Take Care! and enjoy the rest of your summer.

Topic: RE: You want the good news or the bad news first?
hi Becca....thanks for all of the good info. I am having my labs done this morning so hopefully I will be able to get a surgi date prior to Aug 31. I think that the sleeve is right for me, too.
I'm really sorry to hear about the bad news, do you have a place to move into? Do you both still have your jobs and healthcare? How are the kids handling this?
I just got back from a trip to Kauaui with my daughter in laws adn their baby girls. It was so nice to just do a girls trip....gosh, the cooking was easy since we didnt' have to make mountains of food for the boys.
I'll be holding up a shiny star for you, too...hugz:)Deanna

Hi Stranger,
Actually, I'm the stranger. How are things?
For me the surgery stuff has been quick, slow, quick.
Appt with Dr Ray: 4/25/2011
Appt for Fitness Test: 5/3/11
Appt for Labs: 5/18/11
Appt with Dr. Tanaka / Dr. Bressler / Dr. Olmstead: 6/22/11
Scheduled VSG Date: 8/5/11
I didn't call and bug them. I really wanted too, but I didn't. With everything else I had going on....I just decided to not stress surgery dates and just let things happen when they happen. I think the man above knew I needed a high point in my life after all these lows. Things were pretty bleak and depressing around here, but now I have something to get excited about and look forward to.
Hope things happen for you before school starts. I've had three friends from other kaiser classes (local people) that finished the kaiser class in January go through surgery. One had surgery beginning of May, another was scheduled for the middle of June and had surgery on the scheduled date, and the other scheduled for the end of August, but got a cancellation date and was moved to the middle of June. All had RNY . Two had Rumsey and one had Tanaka.
I will have my fingers crossed for you and send positive wishes your way!

Girl, that is awesome that you got to see how everything goes as a VSP. I always say that it can't hurt to get as much info as possible. I like the fact that she is driving and doing stuff just a week and a half out, gives me hope that I won't be off my feet for too long.
I have a few friends here on OH who had the sleeve and they love it. I'm surprised too that it will be Dr. Tanaka. At the info session, he made it seem like he concentrated in the RNY, but either way, I'd be happy to get any of the surgeons. I know they are all good, and I feel very safe in their hands.
Let me know if you need me to come by and help out with the house. I'm only a block away!

I have gained, but I am doing a pre-op regiment from Dr. Tanaka. I'll start being good about my weigh in's and let you all know if it's working. ( up 5 pounds from the end of kaiser classes.)

Yep, still the sleeve. I got Dr. Tanaka. I was really surprised he did the sleeve. He seems like a really nice guy.
I didn't ask to be put on the cancellation list. I figured a month was just the right amount of time to get my chit in order (especially with a move coming up). I plan to have my house half packed and totally cleaned out of excess stuff by the end of July, since I won't be able to lift much for a few weeks after the surgery. And surgery is a week before high school starts for my boys, so they will be here for a week to help me after surgery. My daughter doesn't start school until Sept. so she can be my nurse maid after the boys go back to school. I plan to go back to work 8/16 and just move slow. I work for myself so I don't get sick days, or vacation days, or disability.
I was the VSP for for friend who had RNY a few weeks ago. I felt like I was cheating off her cuz I know kinda what to expect now. It was cool. She had a private room so I stayed the first night with her, and because I was the registered VSP I got to come and go as I pleased day and night (with free parking). I probably made 7 trips a day there. I brought her my portable DVD player, so when I would visit at night we would watch movies, and I would walk with her.
She is doing fantastic. 18 ponds in 15 days. She feels great. She started driving and doing normal household stuff about a week and a half after surgery. I'm so happy for her. We have been best friends (and even roommates when we were young) for about 20 years. She ended her Kaiser class in January. Her original surgery date was the end of August, but she was moved up because of a cancellation.
Hope all is well with you and Congrats on your date! My friend had Dr. Rumsey. He is very nice and he makes very small incisions!!!!!!! Hardly noticeable.

YAY!!! I had been wondering what happened to you! I was getting a bit worried.
Sorry to hear about the car. That really sucks, and then the house stuff on top of it is a huge blow too.
But that is great news about your surgery date! Are you still going with the sleeve? And also, who did you get as a surgeon?
From what I can tell, the wait time for surgery is not as long for the sleeve as it is for the RNY.

Hey y'all,
Like has been crazy.
BAD NEWS: My car broke. It is going to cost $5,000 to fix it. It's a 2007 Yukon, aren't American made vehicles supposed to be rough and tough? I need a whole new engine...mechanic said I just got a lemon...dam. I will be moving out of my house this year. Bank (Chase) are ******** and no longer wish to help us modify. Two years we have been trying to work with Chase. So long to my house that I have 8 years of blood, sweat and tears into. It's nice to know that I bought a fixer upper and fixed it up on my dime for someone else to move into (sarcasm). And, the economy still sucks, so half my bookkepping customers cut me back in hours or days. To that I say, "good luck trying to keep your own **** in order" and they can pay me double when I have to go back and fix their messes. FML
