I'm with you Becca, I'm always thinking about how the surgery will change me, or affect me in life.
Sitting into a booth seat at a restaurant of some where of the likes, I only imagine what it's like to NOT have my boobs rest on the table! (is that weird?)

Oh Becca-
You're going first among those using the site, so of course you're confronting the reality first. You are not alone in your thinking.
I have seen a different friend everyday this week and each involved a restaurant visit. Tomorrow I am going with my daughter to the Orange County Fair and have been trying to figure out the best food choices so I don't gain weight.
I was looking at grocery store ads the other day and I realized the ads are my porn. I get so excited to see what is on sale, even though I shouldn't buy ANY of it! Every time I eat something I ask myself "can you eat this post surgery" . I also wonder about socializing without food being the center.
I have been lucky to have 2 teachers at my site that have had RNY and one socializes, eats his portion and then becomes chef or bartender. Another avoids the situations. They had their surgeries about 6 months apart and both are over the year mark . The more successful is the one who has figured out a way to have fun with everyone.
You have been so helpful and positive I know you'll be great! You are blazing a trail for us! I really appreciate your heartfelt statement and agree with Deanna, Just think, you may be the next speaker in Barbara's class. Keep in touch.

They told me it would be three weeks before I got a call. I think that's the standard cookie-cutter response from PB. We all got call at different lengths of time. It must come down to surgeon and surgery type. That's the only thing that makes any sense.
Have you seen the movie "Hall Pass" yet? I just saw it the other night...pretty funny. The guy on there wears a CPAP (it's a funny image, you should watch it!)
One of the guys on here...Waffleking....got rid of sleep apnea, diabetes, hypertension (I think) and a bunch of other health issues. All after only losing 50lbs of the 100+ pounds he wants to lose. Maybe you won't be on the machine for that long after surgery....???
I am nervous too. My friend that had RNY done last month was sick to her stomach the whole week before. She even barfed (TMI) a few time. At least she dropped a few lb's by getting nervous before surgery :) I think about it alot more these days than I used too (I know that doesn't sound possible..right). I think about it almost every time I do something, like how is what I'm doing and the way I'm doing it, gonna change after surgery. Buckling my seat belt, adjusting the car seat, bending over to grab something off the floor, it's constant. I think about it, literally, with almost everything I do now...so weird. I'm starting to have trouble sleeping at night too. I think about it way too much..lol.

Awww, we'll do it again and this time give a whole lot more notice. I'll even give you call when we set something. We said we'd like to do it agian before all the surgeries start.

Hang in there girl. Dr Rumsey wanted me to lose some also. I got that squared away and am still losing more. Now is the time to really knuckle down, fight those urges and get on top of it all.
I remember after having my appointment with the Surgeon, that they said they'd contact me within 3 weeks with a surgery day, so you should hear from them really soon. Remember, you can always call them too, don't be afraid to do so.
I started following kind of what Dr Rumsey told me to do, but more to the scale of what Dr Tanaka told Becca to do, and that was the 3 shakes a day with additional food at lunch and dinner (although I can go without the food somedays). The extra weight is coming off and it is giving me nicer buffer just to be sure Im still where I should be to go into surgery.

Hey ladies,
Still havent got a date yet.Just here waiting the waiting game!!! . I know it's coming but I think that it will set in when i get the date. On a good note got my CPAP and i'm ready with that just trying to get a hang of it but its hard. So Dr rumsey said i gotta lose 15 and i was at 339 when he weighted me and i'm 333 This morning so im trying .Im still only 3 down from when we ended class ....so im kinda sad about that just had hard times. Im going to visit you guys!!! .Anyone else super NERVOUS!!! cause im soooo nervous! anyway see you ladies soon im going to look into a support grop maybe we can all go!

hi Becca.....you are SO good with words!!!!I think that you should write a book, Sian and I will help you because we like to write and talk too....ok???? I am waiting for my labs to get to PB so that I can make my appointment with the docs. All of my labs came in within the normal range so that is good. I had hoped to have the surgery during the summer while I'm off but have accepted that I will have to get a sub for a few weeks in the fall.
Sian and I had a good chat a few days ago over tea and I think that you are the first one in the class to be scheduled.....will try and get over to see you.
Have you moved yet????If so, did it go ok????I'm going to South Dakota tomorrow for a family reunion so won't be on line for a few days...instead, I'll be goofing off with cousins and looking at the presidents...we reunion in the Black Hills....much love:)D
