hi Becca...like I said, you are an inspiration. My home is mortgaged for 530 and we are starting the price at 460 expecting no bites so I'm sure it will go down down down. I am so sorry to know about yours. I am stopping my payments on the first of March and will shelter the $. I will be moving out in the summer whether it is sold or not. Thanks so much for your kind and thoughtful advice...hugz:)D

I feel your pain....We owe 490,000 on our house and it's listed for $225,000 and it's still not selling. We just had someone put in an offer for 198,000....198,000 OMG!
The bank and the prospective buyer are negotiating. We will see what happens. The last buyer backed out 3 days before escrow was supposed to start....*******!
It's a long stressful process. We were supposed to be out 11/27, then 12/27, now 3/27. They keep extending our date hoping it will sell. I guess it's good, but it's hard to plan.... not knowing when you have to move for sure, and when it does happen we will only have two weeks to find a place and move.
It takes a while to come to terms with it. But eventually you will. The whole thing is just sad for people like us. Good people that work their asses off, but bought at the top of the market, with crazy loans. I can't believe at 38, I had to start careers all over again. Construction in CA is so bad and it's not getting better. I do envy you! Sometimes I wish I could just leave CA, it has got to be one of the toughest states to make a decent living.
I will be praying for you....just believe everything happens for a reason, and what doesn't kill you makes you a stronger person.

So, I "paid it forward", so to speak. I went and spoke at one of Barbara's classes. It was a trip! She didn't even recognize me when I walked in. The class gasped (litteraly) when they saw the before pictures.
It was good to be on the other end. All those egar faces staring at you, asking questions, and some still not sure what surgery to have.
I was honest with them about everything. I have drank (and still do on special occasions), I chew gum (all the time), I have had chips, sugar and citrus. But I also made sure I told them that I count EVERYTING, and I mean EVERYTHING that goes in my mouth...even a finger lick, or a nibble. I run 3 miles a day, (even in the rain!), I walk on my lunch breaks, instead of going to the bar with my friends now, we go for walks. I explained that it is hard work, and even though I have lost 96 pounds so far I could have lost more (maybe even hit goal) had I not cheated.
I have come full circle...lol
Also, Barbara wanted me to mention, that she is looking for guest speakers (especially for her classes in San Marcos). Even to those that are only a few months out, she would still love to have ya.

You are doing great and stalls are inevitable, but I swear once the scale starts moving again it REALLY moves. I would go from not losing much for weeks, then drop 5 pounds in like 2 days. Don't get discouraged.
Hair loss sucks...I figure people are looking at my rack and new body and they don't notice my hair...at least that's what I keep telling myself lol

Topic: RE: My weight loss is going soooooooooo slow
hi K.....yes, I am close to what I think is a good weight for me (160) although I feel that I'll probably end up going lower. I'm happy at the 12 that I'm at right now. I copied the FAQ section from the PB site that makes alot of sense about hair loss.....see what you think:
12. How long will I feel weak and tired?
After gastric bypass surgery, and for the first three to six months following the surgery, there is very rapid breakdown of the toxic metabolic products of fat in the body. These materials reach the body’s circulation in the form of uric acid, urea and various ketones and acetones. While this rapid phase of weight loss is occurring and these materials are circulating in the blood, before the kidneys can excrete them, there is an associated group of common observations that patients have:- A feeling of fatigue and weakness
- Temporary hair loss
- A metallic odor of the breath
- Change in the odor or feel of the skin
13. Why am I losing so much hair?
This is one of the most common gastric bypass side effects. The best explanation is mentioned above. The hair follicles throughout the body are sensitive to circulating levels of acidic components such as uric acid, ketones and acetones, and urea nitrogen. Consuming large amounts of water advised in the protocol, vitamins, and the combination of intensive exercise can reduce many gastric bypass complications, especially this one. If symptoms persist, increase the protein shake to twice a day and contact your doctor. Topic: RE: My weight loss is going soooooooooo slow
Don't panic too much. Your body is readjusting and it will do this many times during the process. At around the 3.5 month mark, I found I had to change my food consumption and increase my calories a little bit. It was hard, because I didn't feel like eating at all, but it helped and I continued to lose lbs again. I have found my body readjusting again at 6 months out, and am having to change my diet again. But my biggest advice is to not panic about it, you'll stress yourself out.
My hair has thinned out a lot too. It's about half of what it was. Whereas I use to be able to tie the elastic hairtie around my pony tail once or twice, I can now do it three or four times. Making sure you consume enough protein is very important. Our bodies are living off protein as an energy source and it will pull it from anywhere it can get it, including the protein that keeps our hair and nails strong (Keratin). I consume around 100g of protein a day and my hair still fell out. It's just the side effect of massive weight loss in a short period of time. I use products that are fortified with keratin proteins for my hair. Ovation Cell therapy is way too expensive for me, so I ended up using Organix Brazilian Keratin products that can be found at the supermarket.

I also purchased another product that is made by the same company as Ovation Cell therapy. This product has all the same ingredients and levels of ingredients as Ovation Cell therapy but only costs around $30 for a bottle. Here's the kicker, they sell it as a horse hoof, mane and tail product, but it is EXACTLY the same as the expensive Ovation Cell Therapy products. I bought this off of amazon for $28 and use the treatment weekly. My hair loss has definitely slowed down, but I do find that if I don't keep up with washing my hair at least twice a week, I tend to lose more hair. So don't be afraid to wash you hair, it is how it gets the keratin back into the pores.

Hopefully some of this will help you out. But congrats on breaking under 200lbs, that's a great milestone. And your weight loss for 3.5 months is just fine!! I know everyone comments on how much I have lost, but please remember, I'm working out HARD, I mean super hard. I run, Im active in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Im now doing P90X. My goal is to become the athlete that I once was, and this may be different to the goals that you all have. The biggest thing (and hardest thing) is DO NOT compare yourself to others. I use to do that, and would get myself upset all the time. You are doing great Kris. Just keep going, and don't be afraid to change the routine a little. Sometimes your body needs it.
Sorry it took me a while to respond. Not only do I work out a lot, but I also still work full-time and go to SDSU full-time. I'm usually pooped by the end of the day!

Topic: RE: My weight loss is going soooooooooo slow
Hey D!!! Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I'm down 48 pounds in 3 1/2 months. I read the PB site and the info I read said hairloss has something to do with lack of protein in the diet, if you're not getting at least 45-60g a day. That's all I saw. I'll have to start getting some Biotin and Super Silica. I use Ovation Cell Therapy products right now, but haven't seen much of a difference. My hair has thinned out so much, I can barely make a pony tail. Well, at least I'm not bald. :) You should be at your goal weight by now, huh? You lost alot before the surgery. They're telling me that I should get down to 150. I thought 135 would be more realistic. 150 seems so big still to me. Well, thanks for the pick me up, I appreciate it. Take care......K.

hi K.....good to hear from you, glad you are under the big 2......great feeling isn't it!!!! How long out are you? What is your weight loss since surgery? Everyone is different, I think that I'm down 50 lbs since my surgery in Sept,,,so that is 5 months for me. I think that my hair loss is slowing down. Read the info on the PB site about that, it has nothing to do with our protein intake. I restarted my Biotin intake and also a product called Super Silica .....they seem to make a difference. Sian does even more than I do. I also am using a thickening shampoo and thickening products. Most people can't tell....what are you using? Whatever you do.....remember that you are so far ahead of the game because of all of the work that you did with taking the classes and having the surgery....hugs:)D
Topic: My weight loss is going soooooooooo slow
I've been losing like a pound every 2-3 weeks. I'm exercising and still barely eating solid foods. I can't figure this out. Is it suppose to slow this drastically at this point? I'm 3 1/2 months out. But, I finally, today, reached the under 200 lb mark and am 199!!! YEAH!! I've been waiting for this for a while! The hair loss sucks, it's thinning so bad, I'm afraid to wa**** again. My trash can has more hair than I do. Would love some feedback. Hope everyone is doing well. Missed seeing you all last month. Hopefully we'll have another get together soon.
