Yeah, I get the gurgle noises too, but it's not uncomfortable or anything like that. Just funny noises.
Other than some strawberry flavored items (I'm okay with the yogurt baby melts) that caused me to feel nauseous, I'm doing okay on my foods. Not that I have  huge range, I'm still only eating scrambled eggs (1oz at a time), or Gerber baby pea puree (2oz), or yogurt melts. The rest is still liquids, protein shakes and popsicles.
Going to weigh in again tomorrow. See what I lost for the second week.

I totally get the chest noise!!!!! A lot of times i gurgle and have mini burps after I eat. It's so embarrassing. People give me the strangest looks when it starts.I feel like a sci fi movie, and this angry monster is gonna rip out of my belly and eat them up.

Thanks! I just read it...very good info. The no-no list is basically the same as Tanaka gave me verbally.

I didn't get anything in writing from Dr. Tanaka other than the generic form I'm supposed to give to my primary Doctor.

I'm surprised he didn't list tofu. Shelley had Rumsey too, and he gave her the green light on tofu...strange??

UUGGG...I have already started adding stuff (even though I haven't had my one month appointment), for some reason Dr. Tanaka has more limitations and longer wait periods than Rumsey. It's was killing me until I decided to take control and eat 4 small meals instead of two, and added a few low calorie/ low fat extras for variety. I made mock "mashed potatoes" last night using cauliflower and veggie broth. So tasty, my kids really thought they were mashed potatoes!

I guess if you gave 100 surgeons the same puzzle they would all start on it differently, but still end with the same result.

Yes, the reduced food intake and options is to help your stomach heal and also to reintroduce your body to food as you are a lot more sensitive to food items that we generally took for granted previously.
The food outlines we are discussing are actually per the advice of our surgeons, but were surprised that each surgeon suggested something different.
I had the RNY, and Becca had the sleeve, but I had also forgotten that Becca is a vegetarian so while I've been released to have soft foods such as shrimp and fish and vegies on Sept 25th, she does't eat these, which could explain as to why her next food stage is also the 25th but may consist of different items.
The food outlines that the surgeons give us are different to what Kaiser suggests in their folder. I'm going to go by what my surgeon suggests.
So far I brush my teeth 4-5 times a day, not just to help with any hunger pains I might have, but also because you mouth tastes like death twice over as your body goes into ketosis.

Let's toast to toast! I'm so glad to hear that food is now staying in you.

It seems like my eating habits are on some weird cycle. I rotate days...one day 800-875 calories, next day 600-700 calories. And back and forth like that. The days when I am super hungry and up my calories, I actually seem to loose a few ounces or pounds. I wonder some times if we are giving our bodies too few calories, and it is in starvation mode hanging on to our fat reserves.

I'm going to have to open up that binder and review the literature. After class was over I tucked it away haven't opened it since (I'm a bad girl). It would be interesting to see what all positive choice says we can have. Dr. Tanaka doesn't give many food options..... It drove me friggin nuts.

Hope all is well and hope that you are getting your your rest at nights again

Isn't part of the reduced food intake supposed to be about giving your new stomach time to heal all the way as well as to keep it from stretching out? Call your Dr and ask if its ok to be adding food? Did you have the sleeve or the full? I wonder if that is part of hte reeason. Makes me wonder about having the sleeve instead of the full. Oh dear.

PS I know all about head hunger vs. real hunger and you really have to work on avioding the triggers, like going into the kitchen if you shouldn't be eating. Try brushing your teeth instead. For some reason when I am fasting that always hjelps me turn the hunger off. Good luck Deb

Yeah I noticed that the folder from Positive Choice has a much different plan to follow then what the Surgeons tell us.
Since Doc Rumsey said I could also have peas (since I don't like yogurt or cottage cheese), I went and bought some Gerber baby pea food (their stage 1 range), and it was actually really good. It already comes in a 2oz container, so I just heated it up and ate it. I was surprised by the taste of it, and it only has 30 calories per 2oz container, which is pretty much what my scrambled eggs was giving me, only the eggs have more protein. So I'm going to mix it up a little between eggs and peas. Plus those yogurt melts from the Gerber baby range that Becca suggested are awesome too!

I was looking through our Positive Choices binder, and in th food plans it say we can try wheat toast after 3-4 weeks.  I tried some, and it was great.  I used one piece of toast with one egg and some lowfat cheese to make a half sandwich.  I can't eat the whole thing in one sitting, but I can eat most of it.  It is DELICIOUS!  It sits well in my tummy too.  This means I can probably make litle grilled cheeses with lowat cheese.  Woohoo!
