Yeah, this is just those of us who had the full by-pass. I have made the mistake once of drinking too soon after a meal (I was really thirsty and couldn't wait any longer), but I definitely won't do it again. I felt so sick in my stomach. I now watch the clock like a hawk! hehe

Some of you may already know Frisco from his "food porn" and amazing pictures. For those of you that don't, he has some great ideas and is quite inspiring. Here is a post from an PM I got from him. Lots of good info and reflection from a veteran VSGer.

Us VSG'ers still have our pyloric valve! I've found that it works pretty normal. I can take BIG gulps of water and other (super thin) liquids and feel fine. But when I put something thicker down (even a protein shake or milk) it shuts and I feel full off of about a quarter cup. You RNY'ers had a lot more plumbing work than we did

It's been great!  I really think the no snacking policy works for me.  Before I was eating just a little bit every 2-3 hours, but now, I eat til I feel full 3 times per day.  Each meal keeps me full for 5-6 hours.  In the last week I've gotten down to 216, so that's 6lbs lost.  Woohoo!

Someone posted this in the RNY forum, and I thought it was a good read so I'm sharing it with you all.

Hey Janet, I just had a thought. When I was pregnant the pre natal vitamins would make me sick. The doctor had me split them in half, taking half in the AM (with food!!!) and half in the PM (with food!!!). Vitamins on an empty stomach can make you want to hurl and give you cold sweats. Just the other day I was in a hurry and I popped my vitamins before I ate. Thirty minutes later (I still hadn't eaten breakfast) and I thought the vitamins might come back up. They made my stomach feel icky.

Dear Sweet Janet... yes, it was a rough one but I know for positive that the nursing staff on that first couple of days wasn't always kind to you. So what are you eating? Are you putting too much into your little pouch at a time? I find that if I sip slowly over a long period of time, everything stays down and stays put.  I saw a doc today and he told me to cut my pills in half and only take a half pill. I did that tonight and I feel good.....like the other ladies said......DON'T GIVE UP.....YOU ARE WORTH IT and a WONDERFUL SWEET LADY.....your friend:) Deanna

I agree with Sian...you just need time to heal. Trust me, 6 months from now I am gonna bring back up this post and you will giggle that you even thought of not having the surgery.

Recovering sucks. Especially for us moms. With kids you still have to function even if you feel like crap. Vomit in one hand, groceries in the other.... you never get a vacation.

Think of this whole experience like pregnancy. There are many parts of pregnancy that are painful, make you sick, and train wreck your body, but the final outcome is so worth it. I know it's very, very, very, very hard right now, but try and think of the pay off that will eventually come.

here is a quote that made me think of you...

"The first thing you lose on a diet is your sense of humor."  ~Author Unknown

Don't lose your overall perspective. Weight loss is an uphill battle, if it were easy, everyone would do it.

Take care, and SERIOUSLY, if you need anything let me know.

Hang in there Janet. Sorry to hear you are having a tough time, but I'm positive that it will get better for you. You are still in the newbie stages post-surgery. You body needs to get over the shock of what has been done and how to cope with it. This will pass and I have no doubt that you will see amazing results and also see a drastic change in your health.

Much love you to you! Stay strong, and don't doubt what you did.
