Is this normal?? It's been two weeks, weight was dropping off of me like flies. Now I'm lucky to get a pound or two every other day or so. I haven't changed my diet. I'm still on liquids. Is this normal? Have you guys been through this also?

hi K....everyone is different but  this tends to happen to all of us at different times. I purposely don't weigh myself very often for this very reason...but sometimes when I get up in the morning, all of a sudden my pants are HANGING on me so I know that everything is still working. Don't worry.....there is NO WAY that it can't be working.....just keep doing what you're doing...hugz:)D

Thanks D, I needed to hear some reassurance. I was afraid that when I go to soft foods, that I'm not going to continue to lose like I did. And I haven't even started foods yet. Thanks for the reply, K.

hi Kris....you are welcomed....and all of the things that Sian shared are the same things that I would share....'cept...I'm older and don't do those crazy workout things that she does. I am very active at work with dancing almost half of each lesson with kids, which is 5 times a day and then our bathroom is a block from my classroom, so I get in my walking then. When I come home, I'm pooped out. I am 6 weeks from surgery and still am tired a lot. You are lucky to get an appt with Taller, I still have not seen him since discharge as his schedule is opposite to mine so I see any doc that is available. Believe me, you WILL keep loosing. I don't feel like I am trying anymore and it is melting off....I am now a 14 and my better clothes are 12's or Mediums.......yippee!!!!:)D

Hey Kristyne. Yeah, from what I've seen, week 3 is a minimal weight loss, sometimes plateau week for most. After surgery, your body is in quite a state of shock, and weight loss is immense for the first two weeks, then by week three the body begins to adjust to the 'new' layout. I had no weight loss for week 3.
But it picked back up again after that, and I lose anywhere between 4-6lbs per week since. It just depends on whether I'm very active that week and also whether it's my cycle week. So don't worry too much, it's just your body adjusting.
I also don't weigh myself daily. I chose to continue to weigh myself weekly, similar to our Options class. This way it forces me to do well for the week and stick with my regime, so I can enjoy the new number on the scale every week.
So a pound or two every other day is very good!!! It will all start adding up soon. I'm over 70lbs down now, and loving every minute of it.
Hang in there girl, you are doing great.

Thanks Sian, I appreciate the reply. I was beginning to worry that something wasn't going right. I haven't even started eating soft foods yet. I have my first appt w/Dr Taller on Monday. So I expect to be starting then. I've been walking, but that's about it. What are you doing for exercise? And congrats on the 70 pound loss!!!! That's incredible!! How exciting. I bet you look like a whole new person!! I'm sure you're feeling and looking great! I'm happy for you! How long has it been since your surgery?

No worries. Believe me, I freaked out to when the weight loss slowed down, but you are doing just fine. So don't panic!

You might find that you have a slower week when you transition, but it won't be too much of a difference. The amount of calories you are taking in are still extremely low. Even now for me, with being on fish, cooked vegies, leafy greens and such, I am still lucky if I hit 500 calories a day and I burn through way more than that, especially on my workout days.

As for working out, I signed up a month ago at a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy near my home. Basically MMA fighting without the kicks and punches. It's a lot of grapling, wrestling, judo style stuff. There are only 2 females in the academy (myself included), so we end up sparring with the men, so it has definitely worked my strength and endurance. I come out of a training session completely soaked in sweat, so it's definitely a good work out. I do that 3 times a week right now, and I also started the couch to 5k training, and am almost at hte point of being able to jog a full 5k. I've been doing that for a month also, and I do that 3 times a week. The seventh day is a rest day! =) And believe me, I need it.

You'll start to find that you have this amazing amount of energy. But be careful because as quickly as it hits you, when you use it, you get extremely tired. My first few BJJ training sessions resulted in my crashing out as soon as I got home. I was exhausted! But now I'm getting attuned to it and am able to continue with other things at night after training.

Overall, I feel amazing. I've gone from a size 20/22 to borderlining 16/18 (depends on the brands). I'd love to break the 200lbs mark by Chrismtas, which will mean over 100lbs lost since June. I had surgery in late August, so it hasn't quite been 3 months yet, but I did lose some weight pre-surgery.

Let me know if you have any more questions. I'm always happy to share what I've learnt along the way. The biggest thing I have noticed is that WLS really does take up a lot of your time post surgery. I'm constantly looking up recipes, planning my days and weeks, etc.

I too seem to be at a stall, only 2# last week, but like Deanna, my clothes are hanging off me, It takes me awhile to get dressed because I don't know what still fits me.
