Amazing difference

So, I'm officially 20 pounds down today from my pre-op appointment weight.

I don't really notice the difference in my clothes, because they were all super tight on me. So I guess they are just less tight, not baggy or anything yet.

BUT MY LUNGS! Wow, today was the first soccer tournament*** I have had to go to post surgery. I did not get winded carrying my daughters soccer backpack, beach umbrella, purse and foldable chair. I can't believe what a difference only 20 pounds has made..incredible.

(***SIDE NOTE.. if you have never been to a soccer tournament...here is what you can expect....you always walk at least 1/2 to 1 mile from parking to the fields at soccer tournaments. It's blazing hot. And the bathrooms are always another 1/4 mile away. And they sell yummy fair food like kettle corn, funnel cakes, jamba juice, pretzels, nachos, icees, etc. You do A LOT of walking and get tempted by crap food.)

I can't wait for you guys to have your surgeries. You better post your experiences too...or else!!!!

WOOHOO! Way to go Becca! I bet we'd be able to notice the difference more than you right now! Can't believe it's been 20lbs already!

hi Becca....thanks for the good info. This is amazing that you are up and out being busy already. Are you having to take naps? Do you just take everything with you....e.i.  water, protein drink, etc. when you go to something like this? Are you having any pain? Has the bloating gone down? What weight did your doc say that he wanted you to try and get to? My doc said I should weigh 128 and I almost puked...there is no way that someone with the muscle that I have in my legs can weigh 128. That might make me a size 1...so....I'm thinking that 160 would be good for me...what about you? Well, take care and thanks again for writing and letting us all know how it is going for you. I promise that I'll post my stuff....don't want the OR ELSE to happen...hahaha:)D

  u funny

Let's see where do I start....

I rarely take naps.

I only take water with me EVERYWHERE, but I'm never hungry and I don't worry about the amount of stuff I'm getting in just the amount of protein. Today I got in 64 grams (30g premier shake 11oz, 17 grams Unjury Chix soup 4oz., 17 grams Unjury unflavored in Crystal Light 8oz. and about 30-40 oz. of water today...O and 1/4 cup of stinkin' jello.) I should have made the jello with some of the unflavored unjury, that way I could be getting in protein every time I eat, but I forgot.

No pain. I have been walking for 15 min PM and 15 min AM, and it's good. Living totally normal, like I haven't had surgery. My body has totally recovered.

No more bloating (thank gawd)

The psych lady actually helped me set the weight. I thought I would have done it with the doc...weird huh. I said 155 cuz for me that's a size 9 and it was always easy to maintain. She said 150. I am shooting for 147, which is almost a size 7 for my body. Even at my skinniest (when I looked HOT) I could only get into a 7, I guess I am built big. But 147 is good , so I have a couple pounds to play with on the weekends once I hit goal. A loose size 9. I'm 5' 6".

128 HOLY COW! How tall are you? I think they just look at a chart to determine target weight based on height.

Hoping you get a phone call soon!!!!

hu Becca... wow, you feel totally recovered...that is awesome. I am 5 ft 4 but have shrunk to  5.3. I weighed 128 when I was in the 9th grade, I was shorter and less muscled then so.....being older and a grandma, 160 will be fine.  The psych lady was interesting, she was thorough but tried to get me to admit that I was depressed. Did she do that to you, too? What did you think of the internist, Dr. Khehar?

What do you think your work will say when you come back next week with about 30 lbs gone? I am not saying anything to my work...just a female surgery and when they mention the weight loss, I'll probably just say something like I'm just not hungry these days.

You're gonna look great at a 9, what does hubby think????Have a good day and I'll chat later:)D

I think you know best what your body is comfortable at. They have that body fat scale at PB too. They could tell if you are at 160 and your body fat is low, that is where you should be.

I had a different internist and psych people than most of you all did.

I had Dr. Bressler as my internist. He is the guy with the dog in his office that meets his patients with the dog. Really cute puppie!

My psych lady was Dr. Olmstead. She was super nice and totally laid back. I think you might have had the kooky lady in the weird town house offices. My friend Shelley had her, she said she was weird.

I'm actually back at work today....shhh don't tell Dr. Tanaka. I have a desk job as a bookkeeper, so the most work I do is running back and forth to the copy machine and filing.

I didn't tell anyone either. They all know I have been on WW, nutrisystem, Optifast, and no carb diet. I figure I will just tell them I'm serious this time and I am exercising too. Which is all true. I don't think anyone will notice tho, until I start wearing new clothes all the time.

My hubby as finally jumped on board the Becca weight loss train. He went for a walk with me last night and has been very supportive. I told him he needs to start saving for my 40th birthday present....a tummy tuck

oh my....you ARE inspirational!!!!Yes, I had the kooky lady in the Victorian house...but..I love Victorian so that part was cool. I didn't have the dog doc, I would have loved that, too. I had an internist that was next door to PB and he acted like he didn't have time for me and that I was just a number...oh well...i can deal with all of it because it is a totally covered service for me...YEAH!!!

It will be interesting to see my BMI when I am at 160...in fact, I think it is in that ticker tape that they gave me. I promise I won't tell Doc Tanaka that you are at work. My colleagues know the same about me, that I've been on every diet in the world. I just don't think that they would ever suspect I would go the BIGGEE route. Ah yes, the 40th!!!!My gift was a Cadillac and oh, I loved that car. I just gave it ti KPBS last year for a tax write off.

You take care and don't do TOO much...this isn't a race so be careful. Oh, and I'll take your naps for you...I like them...hahah:)D

Interesting what you are saying about the internist. I also had a guy next to PB, Dr Kahlear.?something like that. Anyway he acted exactly like you said, like he didn't have time for me. Saw me for about 3 minutes and was gone. If I was paying him cash I would have grabbed his leg and made him spend a little more time with me. I have Dr Taller and he was terrific and took lots of time. I had the Psych in the old victorian. She was ok and yes I too was depressed. But then I have been on and off since I hit puberty so what's new. I promised her I would consider taking something if after the surgery I found I was having problems. I actually will do that if it happens but at this point I'd like to only be dealing with the vitams and protien we have to get down.

Sounds to me like somebody is pushing her very full envelope!!! You slow down and let the inside of you body heal TOO! No more lifting. Ok that's my sermon for the day and I will say that you are an inspiration!! I only hope I come through it as well as you are! Deb

yes mom, I will try and slow down...LOL Just kidding

It's hard not to just act normal, cuz I feel normal. I did have a small sense of dehydration tonight , so I skipped my night time walk and just focused on getting all my water in before bed.

I walked 15 min this morning, worked 8 hours, and went grocery shopping, and I still had energy. It's weird, my system just feels so unpolluted. I even wake up easier in the morning!

The first week after surgery, I misbehaved with the rules, I did feel a little tired and SUPER GRUMPY. Nothing amused me. Physically I felt fine to do stuff, but mentally I felt "blahhh". Not sure if it was from the surgery or my period (or both).

I am so thrilled I'm not the only one that opted for VSG...we can all swap tiny little peanut size stomach stories!

hi Deb...you and I  both have Taller and saw the same people for the pre visits...do you have a surgery date yet? I am expecting a mid fall date but will know when I know.....ah that phone call that everyone talks about!!!! What do you think is up with that doc internist???He certainly has no "care" or "feeling" for patients.....oh well, I guess if he does the job to get us where we want to go then it is ok. Hope all is well...tata:)Deanna
