Optifast vs Medifast

So I brought up in the meeting yesterday about trying the Optifast program in order to not put on any weight while we wait for surgery consultations and times. I'm terrified that I'll put on while we are not weighing in.

That brought me to considering Optifast. It's not cheap, at $125 per week. So I also started looking up Medifast, which is primarily the same deal. Full fast, with the option of one healthy lean meal a day. The shakes are much cheaper, with one week costing approx $88 (whi*****ludes $11 shipping charge). But I really don't know what to do, or which is a better option.

I've signed up for the Optifast Orientation class on March 30th, and figured I'd see what they have to say. Since I haven't lost my 10%, I'm going to have to meet with Dr. Ray, and apparently that is already atleast a 3 week wait after our classroom session finish, so I'm thinking that this might help in keeping me honest and also lose some more weight before surgery.

Anyone else feel like they are in the same situation?

I worry about the weight gain too. I'm hoping I can somehow get it under control by myself.....but chances are not good considering that is what I have been doing for the last couple years and the scale keeps rising. Susan, one of the ladies that dropped the class after a few weeks, went on medifast and she did extemely well. She ordered it off ebay because it was cheaper that way. If you have questions about optifast, you could ask pumkindoodle from my friends list what she thought of it. She was on it for about 3-5 months. She lost weight, but gained some back.

Was that the lady from our class? Or from another class?

And I find it funny that OH website censored part of my post! The area in brackets is meant to say "which" and "includes" LOL.

You naughty girl! All ready getting censored...what are we gonna do with ya?!?!

I'm not sure if you remember her, it was Susan. She sat by me the first couple classes. Someone from our class ( I think Krystine) saw her the other day and said she had lost more weight. I've always had great success with weigh****chers (for a few months at a time) then I'd fall off the wagon and gain it back. Food sucks

I am also worried about not weighing in each week.  I've been going to a place called Lindora for years and dieting is fine, but the weigh in are the only thing keepeing me honest.  I was going to a clinic that is 5 minutes south of work, but they are closing the clinic on Thursday and I'll have to drive from Oceanside to Del Mar Heights or San Juan Capistrano to continue.  Someone in the group has been using Weigh****cher, whic at least has a weekly weigh in.

My Medifast shakes should arrive today as I ordered them online. So I'm going to see how I go.

I've been attempting to reduce food and try a drink diet the last few days with my regular premier protein shakes, drinking two of those a day along with a protein bar and a regular dinner. So far it has been going ok, but the calories in the premier protein shakes are much more than in optifast or medifast drinks which is why I've kept it to two shakes a day. Tomorrow I will start my five medifast shakes, so I'll let you ladies know in class tomorrow night how it is going for me!

I'm also attending the Optifast orientation tonight at KP Positive Choice. I figured I'd check it out and see what they talk about. It can't hurt, and it only benefits me in the long run.
