You are definately not alone in this. I was there at one time too. Yes it is a big change but remember its for the better.  Its a good thing to go thru your list of why your having this done. I also had a list of what could and will happen if I didn't have the surgery done.
I liked the list of why I wanted it done better than the other list.
I was more afraid of the surgery itself rather than the life afterwards, I knew I could handle that. You will be fine and then you can live your life the way it should be, at least thats how I feel, I lived in a shell my entire life. I ready to come out of my shell. you will do great and good luck let us know how you are doing.

Topic: What to Bring?

I have read several post and think I have everything, but am confused.  Since I will away from home the first week (in my RV) .. what do you actually feel like eating for the first week?

Will I be able to drink protein drinks... or just broth?

Also,  to the coffee drinkers out there.. are you able to have a sip of coffee?  (first week  or ever?)

I am having fear too even with a doctor here in the states too.

I laughed when you stayed on the "computer and searching and..."  ME TOO..  some how we need reassurance... I have found that reading comments like yours and other sisters of this site is invaluable.

Good luck to you

Thank you Angie for your suggestion.

I wish there was a sample machine close to me too.  I have been on Protein shakes many years ago, and found Muscle Milk my favorite.  But Like you said, our taste change.

In fact my taste buds are almost non exsistant... so anything will be a good change.

Good luck to you too Angie.

Hi Linda,

Sorry your mom is giving you a hard time about the surgery, but you have to do what is good for you, so try not to let it stress you out too much (maybe that is part of the reason you want to eat so much lately?)

Try to find some samples of protein powders to try out before buying a big tub of it because sometimes they are down right gross and you will have wasted your $$ - some of them taste good too  :)  I am not sleeved yet, but I understand that your tasts change after surgery so you might be better off sticking to buying the samples for now - unfortunately, they're not available where I live!

Good luck!
Angie

I like the balloon idea.  Wow... and the Bullet.  Since I'm heading to Dallas next week for my preop on Thursday , I might pickone up there.

Explain about the silverware and dishes....  I'm a little dense...  smaller portions?  that would make sense.

Topic: Introduction

Hi my name is Linda and have been scheduled for sugery July 17 in Dallas.  I'm having the sleeve.  I am very excited about my decision, plus my husband is happy for me.

Right now my only concer is my mom.  I told her about my thoughts about the surgery a few weeks back and she was down right upset that i woud do such a thing.  (she is 84 and size 2)... she has always been thin... and thinks that well.. people like me.. just don't know how to diet.... anyway... I am going ahead with it without telling her.  You would think a 63 year old woman wouldn't care... but I do.

I just hope nothing happens to me on the operation table, where she could say.... I TOLD YOU so...  :)

anyway.... my surgery is a week away, but my doctor did not say anything about protein suppliments.  I  thought, since reading all your comments, I am going out tomorrow to find some good flavors.  Would like to lose a few pounds before surgery.  But what I noticed is that I can't get enough to eat.  I want to gorge myself.  I know that everything will change after next Saturday...

sorry about talking your time.. but glad to find you.

Linda
