Hi there, just decided to stop in and post today as I find it helps me. I posted a question on the Ontario Forum calling for all HRRH patients past, present, etc.. to answer this question. "You know that lovely 20 page Bariatric Surgery Patient Questionnaire we had to fill out. Well on the last page  Yep all the way back there on page 20 lol under the section CLINIC USE ONLY it says PATHWAY Yellow, Purple, Blue. Now I presume this to sort us into categories but does anybody know for sure. If it is to sort us into categories what do they mean and again I'm presuming it means readiness for surgery. I meant to ask at the orientation but I got distracted and forgot. Thank you"

I didn't really get any responses and me being the person I am needed an answer, so I called them. The receptionist was very polite with her double talk lol When I asked she said to me OH !! Well that section is really just for us. I replied okay I understand that but what does it mean. Her reply It is for the clinic nurses so they can triage your chart and decide which doctor you need to see. Okay so I was under the impression that all the doctors at HRRH are all qualified to do the same surgeries, so why wouldn't you be placed with the surgeon that has the time. One person that did reply hit the nail on the head I believe. She stated I think you got the run around with that answer. I think her surprised reaction to the question left her thinking crap somebody noticed our secret code for you can wait longer than the other person, maybe I'm being a little jaded in that thinking but I agree. I believe the codes at the bottom determine who needs to be seen first, like the triage system at your local Emergency department. If your having a heart attack you get seen first, if you have the sniffles you get seen last. I mean it does make sense, if someone has major life threatening co-morbidities (hypertension, diabetes, coronary artery disease) do I deserve to go before them NO !! but still it's hard to know that I may have the sniffles lol

Anyway so here I sit waiting my turn and trying unsuccessfully to be the good and patient young woman my mama taught me to be, all the while wondering if there is a way for me to upgrade from the sniffles. I've come to the conclusion unless I suddenly develop major co-morbidities the only thing I can do is continue to call the clinic and keep on there radar. Good-Luck to everyone else also waiting, I hope you get your call soon. :-)
