Nutrition Deficiencies of Roux-en-Y...
October 2, 2012 4:25 am

I am constantly reading, and attending seminars, about good nutrition and absorption of phytonutrients.

I recently read an article written in 2008 by the American Society for Clinical Nutrition (http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/87/5/1128.abstract)

In short, the article, to no surprise, indicated the results of studies completed showed deficiencies for recipients of Roux-en-Y in vitamin B-12, iron, calcium + vitamin D, and folic acid.  Considering we, Roux-En- Y recipients, follow a regimen of vitamin supplements, we still have some gaps to fill.

Wellesse (http://www.wellesse.com/multivitamin_liquid.asp)  and JuicePlus (www.LifeEssentialsJuicePlus.com)  seem to provide quickly absorbed phytonutrients, folic acid and iron. Click "Watch The Video"..

However, Juice Plus has the advantage of being substantially medically recommended (Dr. Titus Duncan, Dr. Richard DuBois, Dr. Katz (Pediatrician), Dr. Sears (Pediatrician), Etc)  , tested for years to be bioavailable (effectively absorbable into the bloodstream) and NSF Certified.   Also, Juice Plus is 100% natural, 100% vegetarian and is whole food based nutrition with no preservatives or additives.

There's not even a safety/tamper resistant opening!!! Consuming too much , at worse, would leave you "in the can" for quite some time. :-)

Another proven way to obtain enough whole food, pure vegetables and fruit based nutrition like Juice Plus would be to purchase a Vitamix.  I have one and I love it!!! It's gets to be expensive to buying all the fruits and vegetables but the texture of my smoothies are soo smooth.  Yummy!!
