Greetings,

I'm all about sharing information (to those that "get it" or are at least open-minded enough to hear you out).  My RNY is scheduled for October 6 -- YES 3 days away and I am super excited.  Not nervous YET but I am just overfilled with emotions.  I've lost 58 lbs since December (weigh****chers and exercise) and am already thrilled with that accomplishment - so look out after surgery .  I am extremely confident and independent so if you're not on board with the decisions I make than get out of my way (family included).  The process was very easy for me except a tough doctor (will get to that).  I had my first visit with Dr. Steele (and yes that name suits her) on April 4, 2011 and here I am almost exactly 6 months later having surgery.  BCBS required 3 months supervised diet and John's Hopkins Bayview program required support group & nutrition and I didn't need any other testing (whew!!).  Had a little issue when I wanted to switch to VSG and insurance wouldn't approve it as a 1 stage procedure so went back to bypass and then that's when Dr. Steele put the brakes on -- had to "convince" her that I understood what I was getting into.  Only took a letter and a nutrition consult but she kept me dangling for 4 entire days OMG!!!

Now with all that said, I do have fears.  Mainly about becoming obsessed.  I can be so structured that it can become a fault.  So the nutritionist and personal trainer are musts for me -- they keep me balanced so that I don't overdo it.

Okay - enough already.  I will be posting every step of the way hoping that my journey may be useful information for others.  BTW -- if anyone has a question, just ask and I'll do my best to answer
Starting weight (12/10) - 346; Surgery day weight (10/11) - 282.4

Topic: How Are You Today?
Today I feel motivated and powerful and also regretting what i ate earlier!  I also have a very unreal feeling like it isn't really going to happen and I am afraid to get my hopes up.  The last few days as i get ready for my skim milk diet have been a bit of a rollercoaster!  Today my family had a "farewell to fat" party.  we had a turkey dinner and costco cake.  lol  it is funny because i havent felt the need to overeat or even wanted to since i made this decision.  I have lost 44 pounds recently and it was the easiest weight loss i have ever had.  I think i am seeing the light at the end of the fat tunnel.  as a result, the costco cake made me want to puke!!  but i guess that will make me not miss it later..i also stopped before i felt too full and didnt feel the need to stuff myself.  it was a nice feeling, still feel a little guilty about the cake and lets be honest the piece i had later.
