I bought some pre-made turkey meatballs at my local supermarket. However, you can definitely buy your own ground turkey and find a recipe to make yourself. Allrecipes.com is a good website for general recipes (jus****ch added sugars, etc) and skinnytaste.com has great healthy recipes, and last time I check, I noticed that it had at least 6 different turkey meatball recipes.
The Nectar I bought at a local place that sells alot of bariatric products. But this link talks about nectar and has links to online and retail stores that sell it (Vitamin Shoppe is one)http://www.wheyproteinisolatelabs.com/syntrax-nectar
I'll check in later...
I was bad yesterday 10/6/11 , I got sushi...

I know it may sound crazy but im super excited about doing it,lol! Guess im just ready to have surgery so im excited for everything that comes with it! I hope everyone is doing well. And good luck on all your weight loss journeys!

will you still need the crutches full time? at least maybe it will be easier for you with less weight! i hope your surgery brings many blessings!!!
Congrats on the weight loss! I am having my "fair well to drinks" party this Saturday LOL. I do not drink much at all, but boy I want one last hurrah.
I went out to Olive Garden tonight as one as the meals that I wanted to say goodbye to. I barely ate any of the meals and saved a lot as left overs. I stopped before I was "full" and it even left me room for cake. I have noticed that certain foods that I would love to eat, my body is starting to reject. I do not like Mc D fries, Chinese food, or pizza. And trust me I loved it before! I think mentally my mind, like yours, is getting prepared.
I had my preop appointment today, and I can tell you I am beyond elated!!! I have 11 days until my surgery. The next week is going to fly by getting everything ready at my job. I think I am more nervous about that than anything.
I do not think that you can feel guilty for what you eat. They are decisions that we make, and we have to own up to what we put in our body. Next to my fridge and my Pantry I have the sayings " Food never tasted as good as Skinny feels" and "Food is here to fuel the body to accomplish great things, not to comfort me."
And having these up to remind me has helped me not to eat that other piece of cake or to take a second helping.
Keep strong. This is a LIFE change to make our lives better! WOOT WOOT!
Now that I have a plan I know I am good :)
What also helped is I have never had ANYTHING done at a hospital except for a birth. I had to get an EGD Done where I had a local line put in. It scared me to death, to even have a local, to where my surgeon had to sit on my bed and talk to me to calm my nerves. When the medicine went through my body, I was at ease and relaxed, and I know that will be my last feeling if it were to be my time to leave the world. Since I know I will be a okay, I am not going to stress.
Not sure if it helped at all, I tend to post ramble :)
Apple- My diet was clears starting on post-op day #3 and then was full liquids until my 2 week post-op visit. Now I am on pureed foods. It is so bizarre how full I feel on such a small amount of food! I have been having a scrambled egg every morning and I am absolutely stuffed after eating about 3/4 of it!
some things I am eating:
Low fat ricotta cheese
Refried beans
Tuna fish blended with a tiny bit of low fat mayo
yogurt (dannon light & fit, activia light, or greek)
Blended soups and chili
a few baby foods- mostly just a few bites of the veggie ones along with my protein
applesauce
sugar free carnation instant breakfast mixed with skim milk (snack)
protein shakes (snack) with a 1/4 banana blended in
mashed potatoes with protein powder mixed in
shredded turkey breast in fat free gravy-I chewed forever and it was fine.
baked tilapia
hummus
turkey meatballs (mash up)
sugar free pudding made with skim milk
cream of wheat with protein powder (good iron)
I havent tired a few of these things yet (meatballs, tilapia, hummus, chili) but everything on this list was okayed by my dietician. I am trying to stay away from eating too many starchy foods (i have only had mashed potatoes 2x) and if i do eat them, i add protein powder. I use Nectar Medical Unflavored for savory foods and I have the Nectar Chocolate Truffle for protein shakes.
My surgeon wrote his own bariatric cookbook that he gives to his patients and I also have 2 others, when I start trying those recipes, I'll share them with you all...
Hope this helps!
