It sounds fine to me but I don't know what your surgeon's meal plan looks like.  Make sure you keep a food diary.  Call your doctor's office Monday and review what you have been eating with the nurse/dietician, that is what you pay them do do-take advantage of it...

I would make sure you are getting your protein in before eating the pureed broccoli or bananas.  I have been on pureed and am advancing to soft foods, for dinner tonight, I had some salmon and skipped other foods so I could get more protein in...but if you are meeting your protein goals, then no biggie.

Good luck -it gets easier!

Today was first day on pureed food and I keep reading the meal plan and looking at what I ate and hoping that it was okay.  Anyone else on pureed ???  I had 1/4c egg beaters & 1/2 smashed banana for breakfast and 1 ice cube size chicken puree, 1oz soup, 1oz "liquid" broccoli and 1/2 smashed banana for dinner (I added the banana because I didn't feel any fullness).  Had 2 protein shakes and a piece of cheese throughout the day.  This is the analytical part of me that will be my weakness

Hey ya'll!  Well it's OVER!!  WAHOO!  I had my RNY last Monday, Oct. 10.  And I've been home since Wednesday afternoon. Still feeling a little run down but I'm pretty surprised at how well I'm doing. I've been able (for the most part) to get all 3 8 oz. protein shakes/drinks down plus one or two "snacks" for the last couple of days. I have to set my alarm to remind myself that it's time to eat so that is REALLY strange! Getting in only about 20-25 oz. of other fluids so I need to work on that.

I did have a kind of rough few hours about 24 hrs after the surgery. I was overly tired, weak, dizzy, naseous (that IV pain med is killer!) so I broke down and cried for about 5 minutes. It actually helped and having my fiance there at the hospital basically the whole time was really comforting.

Note to those of you getting ready to have your surgery next....plan to have someone there to give you a light massage or rub down. That gas that gets trapped in your body is really uncomfortable but I found just having my fiance rub on my back, chest, legs was really soothing.  Of course, the walking the hallways really works wonders as well so make sure you get up every 2-4 hours and at least walk a little.

Thanks for all your good wishes, thougths, and prayers!  I believe they helped and will continue to strengthen me.  And thanks to Apple-Jax for starting this group!

Post op day 7 for me and tomorrow is a big day -- PUREE food!!  I really haven't been hungry BUT I have had enough of the liquids and am truly looking for a teenie-weenie bit of consistency and taste.  Someone posted about being sick of the protein shakes and boy do I feel you on that one!!

You need to put on there DO NOT INTEBATE, No NSAIDS...Also if you have other medical conditions including diabetes, heart problems, etc....at least this is what my Bariatric Coordinator said...if you are out and cannot tell them you have RNY they need to know not to put a tube down your throat - they can shove it down and rip your pouch (it is so small) - She has worked in the ER and has seen it happen.  They also need to know not to give you any pain killers NSAIDS as well...

That reminds me I need to order mine...Thanks for the reminder Sabrina :-)

Thank you all for the good wishes! My surgery went really well! The night before I set my alarm for 11:30pm and chugged two bottles of water so I wouldn't be dehydrated for my IV thingee. It worked! Easy inserton, no problem finding the vein. Surgery was a breeze, only three incisions instead of five. My surgeon is so fancy!

I was pretty out of it right after surgery, my first walk around the unit was a little wonky!! I got more morphine and a nap and then I felt great!!! I walked slowly around the unit for about 30 minutes, got a good night's sleep and woke up feeling much better than I expected! Tried my first fluids this morning, so far so good!

A little gas pain, but it's not too bad, just uncomfortable. All in all it's been easy!

I use www.medicalert.org - this is a 24 hour ER service company if you have there medical alert. If you have any questions call the non ER number (the main line).   I do have Type II diabetes and other conditions but noted in my information I update in case the EMT's, Police have to call.

The first year cost $39.95 some time that doesnt include the bracelet. I know this seems very high for a membership. I can update the information as many times as I change medication, Dr's. This asks what surgeries you have had.

The number you have stays with you, you just call or fill out the forms on line. You get your bracelet  or whatever you choose within a week.

I like this company because they give you a decal for your car and a card you can have hide away when driving.
