i have heard if this also, the fluids, plus the surgery sites swell with fluid much like a bruise would.  it is your body trying to heal itself.  also i wonder if because of the trauma of surgery and low caloric intake our bodies freak out and wont let go of any weight until we are a little more healed in case it needs the fuel.  wouldnt surprise me!

My surgery date is Nov. 3rd.  I was also unable to figure out how to add it.  :-)

I gained too.  Went in at 244.  257 when I finally got the nerve to weigh myself a few days after I came home.  11 days later and I'm 247 so I haven't lost it all yet. But I'm not swollen or anything so just trying to weigh myself every couple of days and not let it discourage me.  Nurses said its normal and I should see a loss at my next followup in 2 weeks.

Weight gain is common right after surgery.  You get pumped full of IV fluids, etc and it takes a little time to shed tha****er weight.  I was 216 the day of my surgery and 230 the day after-I freaked!  Don't worry, soon enough you'll be dropping the weight big time.  Your body has been through a major trauma and it takes time to recover.

Topic: weight gain?
I wondered if anyone experienced a weight gain after surgery? In the hospital, I didn't get as much water as I should have. Then they brought me some salty broth and it made my feet swell.
I am home, have been eating appropriately-sugar free pops, jello, and protein shakes. I had gained though, or my scale is off which is odd - to me. I feel lighter-better-no problems now that I am on my own. Has anyone experienced this?

Thank you so much everyone! I'm home and doing GREAT! I'm getting lots of walking in, getting my protein in, and getting my water in! I'm feeling great and am probably not even going to need pain meds by tomorrow!

This was GREAT! I am SO GLAD I made the decision to have this revision!
