Topic: okay still no loss
All Right ladies and gents. I quit weighing myself everyday. The past week I have not lost. Why? I am hardly able to get what I am supposed to in-if I am even doing that, so why am I not losing now? It is only one month post op.
Am I alone?
Thanks for any replies-I am stymied.....

Topic: RE: 3 weeks out... and what are you eating?
I was 3 weeks on Friday. I was cruising right along with NO food issues and then .. FI****he horror, the pain, the sure knowledge that death was coming! I had eaten about 1 tablespoon of a broiled Halibut and all of the sudden my stomach clamped down and I was in excruciating pain. It hurt so bad I could barely breathe. I'm still not sure if it was that I ate it too fast or if it was too dry (it was pretty dry).. Ever since that little pleasure I have had to be very careful with Buela, she is now a delicate flower.

Haha "Cybil" I call mine Beula.. maybe when I start likeing my pouch a little more I will change her name to something prettier :)
Topic: RE: Food Cravings for the 'last meals'
Thats a funny question ... I had all kinds of plans for my last meal.. I would spend an hour trying to weigh one choice against another.. then my surgeon called and moved my date up by TWO WEEKS!! I had 6 days left of freedom.. I never got my final meal. I was too worried about my liver to risk eating something wonderful that close to my surgery.
I am now 3 weeks post surgery. I had RNY so I can't claim very much knowledge about your sleeve restrictions but.. I have heard of peeps that carry food with them for social occassions. Or eat prior to arriving.

Topic: RE: Vitamins
I like to mix my vitamins up over the day.
Once a day I drink one:
Multivitamin & Calcium Drink Mix (Citrus Splash) by Celebrate Vitamins
And spread the rest of these over the day:
2 MVI capsules from Building Blocks ( a bariatric vitamin company)
2 Antioxidant capsules from Building Blocks
3 Calcet Calcium chews (500mg each) Lemon is good, chocolate is awesome!
1 Bariatric Advantage Iron tab (60 mg)
1 Bariatric Advantage sublingual Vitamin B12
I also take senna with stool softener and a couple of fiber gummies a day as needed....
If you are buying at CVS, I would buy the Centrum Silver Chewables, that seems to be the most recommended vitamin for post-op that can be found at the usual pharmacies. Plus, CVS makes a generic of Centrum Silver so you can buy that and save even more $$. As long as the B12 is sublingual, any brand should do. Calcium needs to be in the form of Calcium Citrate not Carbonate.

Type vitamins in the search engine on this site. It will bring up numerous sites that sell specifically for bariatric patients. I chose Unjury-as all you need to take is in one chewable tablet-100 tabs per bottle for only $36.00. It does appear that you would probably need to supplement with some calcium, which they also sell for a nominal fee.

Hey Michelle! Of COURSE! I ate and ate and ate-gained 10 pounds instead of losing like my surgeon told me to.
Don't worry about feeding your kids-for the first few weeks you won't care about food at all. I am back to cooking now, and all I can eat is all I can eat. It is a big adjustment-but I am getting more used to it each day. The pouch does extend a little, too. At first all I could eat was a few bites-now I am up to almost a half of a small bowl.
The biggest problem I have encountered is not chewing my food good enough-trying to eat too fast. I threw up a few times from doing that. I could not stress enough to take small bites and chew thoroughly. It was hard for me to do at first. It seemed too hard to chew. I was used to taking big bites of food-and swallowing big chunks.
I thnk you will probably find yourself back at your favorite places-I am not sure about drinking alcohol, can you opt for a virgin drink? At least initially?
Best wishes for you in this process!

Topic: Food Cravings for the 'last meals'
Hi all,
New to this group and just wanted to say hi. Really starting to prep mentally and physically for my VSG surgery on 12/21. I'm wondering if anyone else went through what I am where I'm feeling like I need to go to all of my favorite places to eat for my 'last meals' before surgery? I know that one day I may go to these places again but am having a psychological cravings for all these different places just in case I NEVER get to go back again.
I'm also getting worried about making my kids (ages 6, 4, 18 months) food and how I am going to deal with that after surgery. Plus, I travel for work usually once a month (I'm a corporate event planner) and just wondering how I'm going to manage the social drinking/eating thing with my new stomach. I hope that I can do it and still be cool about it all.
I'm nervous and excited about my new life post surgery. Happy to be here and on the path to wellness! :)

It's been 4 days and I'm feeling pretty good. I have trouble getting in all my fluids because it can be painful after about an hour to keep getting things down. I usually take a break, walk around and come back.
I'm finding that after a full night's sleep my tummy is really hungry, that's the only time I am really aware that my stomach needs food. I am trying to drink protein first but haven't been able to down the 40 grams per day that my doctor wants me to at this point.
I'm hoping that thing will improve in the next week. So far I haven't had to take the heavy pain killers until bed time. I manage with liquid tylenol during the day if I need it.
Since Wednesday I've lost 12 pounds with a grand total of 27 since my original meeting with the surgeon in June.
I'm blogging so there is a little more info there. www.wakemeupwhenimthin.blogspot.com
