I lost 23 lbs my first 2 weeks, and the scale was exactly the same since last tuesday, so a whole week and nothing.  They say it's normal, but that our body needs to adjust, but that in a little while the weight will drop off again.  Our bodies are probably going through starvation mode, trying to hold on to everything because we're eating so little.
That whole food vs. liquid thing.  It's an issue for me as well.  I think I've been neglecting my water since I've been able to eat more things.  Today I did better with the water.

Here's to hoping the weight starts dropping again, and soon.  :-)

I had my surgery October 17...  and I am in the exact same "state"...  its a delicate balance... lol..

My energy is down.. but I am hoping with my return to work next week.. that once my family and myself are back in the old routine.. (with new food changes..lol)..  that my exercise will increase.. and balance will be acheived....

My family mostly knows.. some friends...  not a secret.. but not something that I walk up and tell to strangers either...

Not everyone supportive.. but then again.. I don't really care...lol.. I did this to be healthy.. to be able to keep up with my 6 year old..

I am hoping by doing this now... I am setting a good example to my daughter and she does not have to fight the same demons we are all facing now....

Good luck  and happy holidays to you

Topic: RE: Food Cravings for the 'last meals'
I did not really have a last meal.. but I did have steak and salad...  I tried to prepare myself mentally...  as I was not really saying good bye to foods... just re-learning how to eat in moderation... mind you.. I have not had any cookies cake.. french fries..kfc.. etc etc etc... since my surgery...lol...

I don't think I miss them yet... what I have found.. that I have to prepare a lot more food ahead of time...  no quick fixes.. like picking up mcdonalds for my 6 year old  and husband.....  or bagels and peanut butter for supper.... etc

The preop diet I found was easier compared to now.. and finding the right balance to get all the vits and proper protein levels and liquid levels in..

Some days my pouch (RNY) is great and I can eat normally.. some days not...  I read labels a lot more now...

Good luck.. you will do awesome on your path to wellness...

I am about one month post op. I had a difficult time with the whole pureed food as well. I had some Sweet Potatoe/Apple Baby food, but thought I was going to gag.

The crock pot is a really good idea! With me, it is still strange. There are some foods that I can tolerate one day, but the same foods not the next day. It has been a weird experiement. Most of the day, I am not getting all the protien I need. And most days I feel like I forcefeeding myself.

I went to my primary care phyiscian because I wasn't feeling so well last week. Not only was  I dehydrated, my body was experiencing 'ketosis'-basically my body is starving itself. While I know that this is supposed to happen, the concern coming from my doctor suprised me.

Since October 17th, I am down 33 pounds. It's a slow progress. But I feel like I am starting off to a great life, since my 'new birth.' I just hope that things continue in the way that they are supposed to, complicated free.

I have yet to tell my parents about my procedure. Because of financial burdens, I am not able to go home for Thanksgiving, but I will be explaining my situation at Christmas. Hopefully, by that point I will be down at lest abother 25 lbs and things will be almost self evident.

Holiday Blessings to all of you.

Thanks, Kelly.
I am sorry you are having a "down time", too. Think your name for your pouch is too funny! I love it! I just got through being sick-I am not sure if the reason I can't eat sometimes is because I am constipated-I never had that problem before so I don't know what it feels like....but have been told it could be my problem.
It is awful that you can't even eat and you still don't lose. That's the ultimate bummer.

Hi Leslie, I am feeling just like you. I had RNY 10/28. I am down 26 pounds but have not lost a pound since Saturday to make things feel a little bit worse I have been having problems with food.. cold water makes my pouch, "Beulla" complain, warm tea makes her complain, any food makes her complain! Grrr, I was doing really well and now, I feel like all progress has stopped. I'm not sure what I am going to do now.. don't want to call the doc this close to Turkey day and have something occur that would mess the day and plans up for my family of eaters lol. I guess I will just keep doing what I am supposed to do and hope for the best. Let me know how things are going for you

Thanks everyone! I keep debating back and forth whether I need to be on a major diet to prep myself but I really feel that need to 'live it up while I can' but know that's the wrong way of thinking.

Topic: RE: Vitamins
Hi Mandy, just wondering how you are doing. I got my B 12 SL on line. The brand name is Puritan's Pride B-12 500mcg which I take twice a day. I also got centrum chewables, but I had to buy them on line because Walmart and CVS didn't have any...go figure? I bought Walmart equate calcium citrate+D. They're horse pills but dissolve in a very small amount of water or crystal lite and I just chug it! The iron I bought on line too. Bariatric Advantage chewable fe. That was a lot of money to shell out for 270 tabs it cost $69. I intend to switch to feosol when they run out. Vit C chewable I also got at Wallyworld, by spring valley, 500mg. Vit D dry, 5000IU I got from wonder laboratories on line. I crush the ones that I can't swallow for now. Most of the vits that I ordered on line were from various sites. I just bought from whoever had the least expensive price! Hope you are doing well. Do you still have incisional pain?
