Meridon, I totally relate to your statment,

"We have been together for a very long time.. and he has seen me in a few body sizes and shapes.... this time just feels different for some reason..."

I am more self conscious when naked around my hubby now at 185 pounds than I ever was at my highest weight of 275, which was five years ago.  There is so much saggy skin, I hate it!    I do not know if I will ever be able to embrace my naked body without having plastic surgery- I know, very sad.

Cassandra, I can imagine it would be very hard to date right now, unless of course, you are with someone else who has had WLS.  Just take it slow and learn to love the new you first...

I did not and even though I have enough "before" shots of me to last a lifetime.  I should have taken one and then I can taken a new pic every 3 months or so in the same spot, etc. to see the difference.  I look in the mirror and I can't see the change-so that is the only reson why I wish I had taken pics...for me and my mental block, not to necessairly share with the rest of the world-kwim?   Everyone else notices and all of my clothes are too big (I bought my first pair of size 14 jeans last week (in the petite section-not the women's!) which is compared to a size 20 or 22w last year.

Thanks, I'm seeing my surgeon next week and will share the info with him.
I'm doing better the past couple of days actually. I hope it is a sign of progress!
Hugs back!

I did let my brother take a picture of me just because a friend of mine told me I would be sorry if I didn't. I am not sure that is true-but then I got to thinking about the possibility of it helping someone else.
When I get on this site-I always look at the before and afters. Some of the folk are not very big to begin with. I wish there were more bigger people-so I could get an idea of how much skin hang I am going to have....but I know it is individual anyway. But, at least I can represent an idea for people who are thinking about having the surgery and who are as big as I am/was....

it is probably harder being in college where you feel more pressure.
on the other hand, hopefully by the time you get to the under the shirt part, they will know you and care about you enough that you can have an honest conversation or better yet, not need one.  =)

i know alot of people are coming to respect the decision and  clothes dont hide everything, so i am pretty sure if they are looking for a hard body they will be smart enough to see the "womanly" side going on underneath the clothes. lol  if they are interested in you, go with it!

besides if the person does not know you and care about you anough by the time they get the "show" then they are really a one time/short term thing anyway, so who cares what they think?

i do see some wisdom in waiting/ taking a break for yourself, so you can get to know and love the new you and be able to find the right guy for the new you and not date with what i call "fat girl mentality"  and undervalue yourself.

nice to hear from you! let us know how it goes!!! i am sure you will become more comfortable with yourself and it will all work out!

Topic: RE: Food Cravings for the 'last meals'
i approached it with balance, i ate healthy and then had one meal that was a favorite each week, or if i had 2 i didnt beat myself up and ate healthy the rest of the time.  it helped me to mentally prepare for moderation.

do you have any help with the kids?  maybe grandma or a sitter can let them eat dinner for 2 weeks?
my husband took over meals for 6 weeks so i could worry about me.  if not, i say go really simple.  frozen meals that can be easily divided,  small one dish meals and freeze a little for yourself later on. fish sticks never killed anyone in a few weeks. lol

it seems really overwhelming but it will fall into place! lots of people do the food fake out, get a big plate eat a little, no one can tell what you had..lol  the food and the decoy food.......

sorry you are having a rough time! i understand and can sympathise with the rollercoaster journey!

i agree about maybe a stricture?  a swallow study may be a good idea.  are you getting your vitamins especially b-12?

it is very time consuming to think about food all day and vitamins and things and eat so little of it..lol

my weight loss hasnt been good and it has been tough.  I am sorry to hear about your loss, especially having been so close to the holidays i am sure it keeps it close to the surface at this time of year.

try to regroup and make sure your body is getting everything it needs to stay healthy and maybe it will help your energy, i would talk to the dr about the tightness you describe and the fullness.

feel free to vent as crazy as you want, i may need you to talk me off a ledge some day!! =)

that is why i made this group, so many people in our lives dont understand and even if they do it is almost humiliating to admit feeling defeated sometimes.   your feelings are your own and there is no right or wrong.

hugs!!

my son lives and breathes star wars, i would take help from about anywhere right now..lol

did lose 2 more pounds after i griped about it, 16 down. probably be back on tomorrow......

protein shakes are the only way to go to get it all in!

i wait until almost ready to eat again and drink a bunch of water over a half an hour bec i know the way is clear!  then eat a few min after when i feel the pouch has emptied.

unflavored protein powder works good too.

i keep hearing about all these slow losers and how normal it is and i am afraid that is going to be me, i have too muh weight to lose to be a slow loser!!  plus my sister in law and best friend had surgery in the last 2 years and the weight "FELL" off.  everyone is looking at me like i am doing something wrong.

as a side note, does anyone else have pcos??
