Has anyone else wondered how things will change? Or If you think guys/girls will look at you differently if they found out that you has a gastric bypass? Does anyone feel like taking a break from the dating scene or dating only GB patients? I am a younger college student and guys are giving me attention but really I don't want them to see under my shirt... I mean you all know what our stomach's look like.... Any one else feeling this way?

I am hoping.. that the farther I am out.. the more accepting I will be of my body and its "appearance".

While I am not in the dating scene,  I do wonder,  what my husband will say.. in a few more months when everything is a hanging a real down low...

We have been together for a very long time.. and he has seen me in a few body sizes and shapes.... this time just feels different for some reason...

There is a plus to only dating |GB patients.. they know what you have been through.. they will eat the same thing at the restaraunt on dates... lol...

lol I hope I become more accepting of my apperance too. It would be nice.

Its great that you found a man that truely loves you!! I hope to have that one day. I kinda feel like it is never going to happen... I have always been big and never really had the boyfriends to know what I want or am looking for...if that makes sense

I would love to find a GB guy but honestly how in the world are you only going to meet GB guys... besides at the once a month at the meetings you should go to...

I am excited to be a cheap date in that aspect lol :)

it is probably harder being in college where you feel more pressure.
on the other hand, hopefully by the time you get to the under the shirt part, they will know you and care about you enough that you can have an honest conversation or better yet, not need one.  =)

i know alot of people are coming to respect the decision and  clothes dont hide everything, so i am pretty sure if they are looking for a hard body they will be smart enough to see the "womanly" side going on underneath the clothes. lol  if they are interested in you, go with it!

besides if the person does not know you and care about you anough by the time they get the "show" then they are really a one time/short term thing anyway, so who cares what they think?

i do see some wisdom in waiting/ taking a break for yourself, so you can get to know and love the new you and be able to find the right guy for the new you and not date with what i call "fat girl mentality"  and undervalue yourself.

nice to hear from you! let us know how it goes!!! i am sure you will become more comfortable with yourself and it will all work out!

Meridon, I totally relate to your statment,

"We have been together for a very long time.. and he has seen me in a few body sizes and shapes.... this time just feels different for some reason..."

I am more self conscious when naked around my hubby now at 185 pounds than I ever was at my highest weight of 275, which was five years ago.  There is so much saggy skin, I hate it!    I do not know if I will ever be able to embrace my naked body without having plastic surgery- I know, very sad.

Cassandra, I can imagine it would be very hard to date right now, unless of course, you are with someone else who has had WLS.  Just take it slow and learn to love the new you first...
