Hi. I'm glad I saw this group and I'm hoping it's not too late to join.  I have gained a lot of weight since my by-pass surgery in Oct. 2004.  I have just recommitted myself to getting back on track.  I did the 5 day pouch test last week and and happy to see that I didn't ruin my pouch. Kinda feeling bummed today and feel like I'm not doing good enough.

Hi Gail,

Welcome aboard...How far out are you in the process?  I personally saw a recognizable re-bound weight gain at about 3 1/2 yrs out, put on 16 lbs from my personal comfort level and 3 over my surgeon's goal...Played around with fixing it for about a year and then finally got bit by getting serious when I say this group...I think 10 in a year is a very workable goal and I've been making adjustments and kickstarted myself into losing again...

My major change has been to keep it clean, really watch the tempation to graze and choosing a much lighter dinner, with a "big" meal ( if you call anything we can eat big  ) at lunch...This morning I'm down 7lbs from my highest for 2010 and slowing making progress in the right direction...

You can too, hope to see you around the boards, come on in and post questions, thoughts, ideas, etc...

Hi everyone,
Had my RNY 4/2008 and was at my goal about 8 months ago.  I know I have been putting some pounds on but I haven't had the nerve to hop on the scale.  I will do that on Monday as I did when I was post surgery.
I came to a personal low today when I had to up size in a pair of pants.  This is my first step to getting back on track.  I am going to read through your posts and get some ideas for dropping 10-20 pounds.
   Thanks for your help!
Gail

Alesia,

That is a good job even if it feels rather slow. I was just joking with my wife today about getting a RNY on my RNY.

Just keep moving in the right direction.

On January 1st we started having people join this little group with the intention of dropping 10 pounds for the year of 2010. I actually established this group out of a bit of panic on my part. I had enjoyed a low of below 200 pounds following the immediate year after my RNY in 2007. I experienced a normal bounceback (somehow I actually thought I would be exempt) of about 20 pounds and managed to stay there for over a year. Then the holiday 2009 season hit and I pushed to my all time post surgery high weight of 229.8 with a serious case of panic. I had lost touch with OH after a very close relationship with many people for the year following my surgery so this is where I came back to.

Very quickly I stablized my weight back to around 222-224 around the first week of January. To be fair to myself, I set my official starting weight at 220 and reached that very quickly. I have focused pretty well during these past three months and have seen the weight slowly, but surely, come down. To my surprise and joy I hit a weight this past week of 212. My goal is to hit the 200 pound weight and then drop at least 3 pounds below it.

To do this I have focused on small breakfasts and lunches. It still try to keep around 500 calories between these two meals combined. Then I try to come home from work and have a high protein snack, like a can of tuna or chicken that will take my evening cravings away. Then I try to eat a normal dinner...and some days I even succeed.

I'd like everyone who has had the success of losing at least 3 pounds to check in at the end of March or the first week or so of April. You can add to this thread or start your own. I still think that if you really want to drop the 10 pounds for 2010, you need to have achieved the goal by the first part of or middle of November. My two bad seasons are summer and then from Thanksgiving through the 1st of the year.

One of my only hopes for this group was that anyone who starts a thread gets at least one or more responses. That I see has been done quite well...thank you to all who contribute.

I wish you all success in the next three months and beyond.

John
