I've got about 15 to 20 lbs. I want to get off this year--and keep off.  I've found it easy to become thoughtless about my eating and very lazy about exercise, especially in winter.

This winter I can honestly say I've done more outdoor exercise--shoveling endless snow!  As I mutter under my breath with each shovel full, I try to remind myself that at least now I can shovel my own snow.  (That and I need to move south!)

I was already planning to get on the regaining control band wagon this year, so this group will be helpful.  So far I haven't done so well on the snacking, but I did get over to the gym to walk at lunch today.  And I so didn't want to, so that was a bit of a victory.

Topic: Opinions Pls - Latte's = Evil ?
Okay,

So I'm looking for opinions...I noticed my slow creep, now a total of 14lbs, over the last 2 years, from my lowest over 4 years ago, seems to have co-insided with adding regularly latte's and
fru-fru coffee to my program...Even though I always go sugarfree, it really seems like the latte's are the culprit of my demise...

Its not that I have not allowed other "lesser" foods into my plan, I have added more snacks & real sugar treats into my program, but, when I cut out the "lesser" foods I will see an initial small loss then never get over the threshold to the next level...Really believe it is because I cannot bring myself to give up the latte's & fru-fru...

What do you think?  And furthermore, I question myself, do I really want to?  I know if I give them up just to get back down and lose the extra lbs that I will want to go back to them once I re-achieve my goal...Should I work on successful re-achievement while keeping my latte fix in place?

Thanks for the input ...

I am 5 years post op. I neve made it to goal; the lowest I got was 187 down from 297 or so before surgery. I am actually a revision. I had the old stapling only back in the 1990's. I only lost 30 from that and bounced up and down from then on. All it did was make be borderline bulimic, if i wanted to eat more than would fit I would just go vomit then go back for more.
I am fairly active now which is such a surprise to me. I actually love to exercise now! I am contemplating a mini triatholan this year. I have done several 5 and 10 K's and one 12 K. I started with a running group 16 months ago which keeps me moving!
I had an extensive hernia repair and a TT the end of October. I was not able to exercise much; hence the 5.5 pound gain! I am happy in the 180's, would love to see the 170's but will be contenet to get back where I was.

Topic: It's good to be back!
This April I will celebrate my 3rd year anniversary since my surgery. My surgery was very successful and I lost ALL my weight within the first year of my surgery. I've managed to maintain it until just recently. I started to get sloppy in my food choices and lazy about exercise. I have managed to put 12 lbs. back on. I don't like it and I certainly don't want those 12 pounds to turn into 20 then 30 then before you know it 50 or more. I figured I'd better get back in touch with OH and the basics again. I don't want my weight gain to spiral out of control, that would be devistating to me. So here I am!!! Looking forward to meeting you all and hearing about your struggles, successes and ideas!

I'm a busy mother of 9 children, ages ranging from my oldest being 28 and my baby is 6. And I'm a grandma to my 2 yr. old grandson. It's a crazy, chaotic life around here but I wouldn't trade it for the world. God bless you all in the New Year! Praying this is a GREAT year for everyone as we all get back on track together!!!

Cheers,
Lisa

Sounds like you are off to a good start!!! That's very encouraging to me. I was wondering if you could share a few of the high protein meals you prepared for your freezer. I am a busy  mom and many times I don't get a chance to stop and fix a proper meal for myself so I end up grabbing those quick & easy carb items that ruin my weight loss efforts. That seems to be my biggest downfall. So, I'm looking for quick & easy high protein/low carb foods I can just grab (or prepare ahead of time and keep in my freezer for quick grabs). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

High impact aerobics to a latin beat! I sweat like a pig when I do it! Several new songs today; I have been away for awhile since I had hernia repair and TT the end of October. I am slowly getting back into my running and Zumba.

Genie,

You are so very welcome here....the more the merrier.

Anyone should feel free to add on to your thread below to tell a short synopsis about themselves.

I joined OH three years ago last month and because I teach school I waited to have my surgery until school let out in May of 2007. I used that time to drop about 40 pounds and got ready for the surgery itself. I was down to about 300 the week of my surgery. I got down to where I am right now by December of 2007 and then dropped a few more pounds in early 2008. After gaining a few pounds at the end of 2008 I managed to maintain mostly where I was all through 2009. Then December rolled around and I'm just not ready to gain this back...kind of in panic mode to tell the truth.

My wife had the surgery a year after mine In June of 2008. She is inching toward her goal and is within ten pounds of that. She wants a Coach purse when she reaches her goal and then for maintaining it for 3 months. I can certainly live with and encourage that...she has earned it. Christine is down over 100 pounds since she began her journey. We just feel so blessed with all that has happend in the past three years. Now I'm very focused at staying successful in 2010.

That is where all of you come in. I had my best success when I was tuned into OH following my surgery...so I'm back at my roots where it all started. Only this time I have the help of you veterans to help keep me focused.
