I got this one straight off Linda Farnsworth, she has so many awesome food suggestions, added my own secret ingredient ( its the shrimp ) and voila
CAESAR DEVILED EGGS
7 hard boiled eggs
1/4 c creamy caesar ( I like Kens light the best for this recipe )
1 tbsp half & half
2 tbsp shredded parmesan
about 1/3-1/2 tin of canned baby shrimp ( rinsed and minced up )
salt, pepper and a shake of dried basil leaves to taste
Peel all the eggs, BUT only cut 6 in 1/2 and put the yolks aside in a bowl...Grate the 7th egg into the bowl with the yolks, stir in everything else, taste and add salt, pepper to taste...If its a little dry dribble a touch more caesar in...Stuff your eggs and ENJOY...
2 1/2's is a serving

You are a welcome addition...I can see that you are on board in your life too and have moved in the right direction to get it back together and on track & at least half of the this life choice is adjusting with the changes in your life, congrats on seeing the new direction and making the leap...
I know those first early years it is SO easy to say to yourself I can keep going like this forever, following all the rules, taking care of you first, exercise, protein, etc - been there, done that...For me life stepped in and I started feeling like I could be a "regular" person. it took a few slips out line to realize that I will never be "regular", food is my downfall, still is, I must follow a plan and basically stick to a few, very doable, rules andI will find better ways to "deal it" into my life...
I firmly believe support and accountability are what makes this work, I account for myself daily on thedailyplate, attend a live support group once a month and come to OH & other online support sites often...Once again, welcome, look forward to seeing you around the boards
Its a lifetime of work to make it work...

So glad I can join this group!
I'm a 5 year postop this month (Jan. 31st) and have been really struggling for the past two years. I lost my weight (280 to 160) within the first 9 months of lap RNY surgery and easily maintained it for the first 2-1/2 years. Did everything I was supposed to do - focused on protein, supplemented with 2 protein shakes a day, took my vitamins, and exercised. Life was good. Then I switched to a new job where the stress almost did me in, bottomed out with anemia and let the exercise lapse as I barely had enough energy to get out of bed in the morning, got sucked in with the drama and dysfunction of DH's family and took on more caregiving for his ailing mother, switched back to a job with former employer but then found out a year ago that I would lose my job this January. Emotional eating took over and even though I still kept on the with protein shakes I indulged in a lot of carbs/sweets/real sugar, etc. I basically stopped putting myself first and taking care of my needs and to no surprise my weight crept up every month until I reached 183 pounds as of January 1, 2010.
Like you all, I'm recommitting to myself and getting healthy again. To help get the emotional eating under control I've started to see a psychotherapist who specilizes in eating disorders and body image issues. I'm working on getting regular exercise and as of a few days ago...trying to eat better and get away from all the carbs & sweets. The scale was down 2 pounds today. I'm looking for the emotional support that comes with these forums because as we all know, it's not so easy to take it off once we've put it back on.
Thanks for being there!

And, more about technique than a recipe, thw absolute best way to prepare a steak.
1) Make sure your steak is at room temp and season as desired
2) Preheat your oven to 500 degrees (and open your windows and unplug the fire detector--there will be smoke) with an oven proof skillet in it (cast iron is best)
3) When ready, take skillet out of the oven and sear the steak about 1 to 2 min per side
4) Put skillet with steak back in the hot oven and cook for 5 min. for med. rare
5) Keep your paws off of it while it sits for 5 min.
6) Enjoy
I have never been able to make a decent stea****il I tried this method.
I just had all my labs done so I know where I am with all that which keeps me on the right path with vitamins and such. Ferritan is low again am working with pcp to try something different. I am still eatimng one too many snacks at least and really want to limit myself to three meals and two snacks so I am working on that today. I have brought lunch and healthy planned snack every day to work this week so I am pleased with that.

I stole this recipe from Theresa and modified it.....drives Christine a little crazy at times...but modify is what I do best I guess.
Quick Chicken & Veggie Soup
3 Cans Cream of Chicken - Campbell's lowfat
Plus 3 cans water
12 servings Mixed Vegetables from Sam's Club (8 cups)
12 oz chopped onions
30 oz Chicken Breast (diced)
2 Tbl Sam's Club Chicken Bouillon (the paste stuff)
Basil - to taste
Thyme - to taste
Garlic Powder - to taste
Parsley Flakes - to proper appearance - mostly for looks and appeal
Directions are a bit tricky (lol) - mix together and simmer until chicken, veggies, and onions are cooked
My portions worked out to about a cup 8-9 ounces
This recipe will make 12 servings - enough to freeze
Christine loved this - and she is one who eats the same thing each day because she has so few things she likes. She says it tasted like the inside of "good quality" pot pie - one of those super healthy ones.

Regain of 20 pounds has thrown me for a loop - will not let this get the best of me - what am I doing about it?

I've gotten my walking in at work so far this week, and yesterday I did pretty good on not snacking. So there's an improvement if not perfection. At least it is in the right direction.
Good luck everyone.
