I certainly sounds like you have managed to get control of things and have a clear plan of where you want to go. I really beleive that with that kind of determination you can really get there.

Those blasted carbs are what I hate the most. You invite just one to a party and they go and invite all of their friends. My biggest problem with them is that they don't know when to head home...just really bad house guests. I've found that the friendly carbs are from the veggie and fruit family. That famiy is so sweet that you hate to send them home...stick around awhile...stay and visit. In 2010, those bad house guests are just not welcome here.

I've learned that our tool is ready to work once you decide to make it all happen. I hope that you can find what will work for you in 2010.

Best wishes.

John

for the last 6 months I havent even tried to stay on track. cant stand the protein shakes and have found carbs again. So I am going to start to go to OA meeting tomorrow and see if that will help. I keep losing and gaining the same 8 pounds kinda frustrating.
I am so glad I got this message for this forum ...maybe it will kick my tush in high gear. WOULD  love to be at goal...need to lose 50 pounds to get there..

I can't wait for spring to return and then I can start walking the doglets outside everyday.  I have 4 Maltese and the little furbabies don't like the cold weather....plus I live in snow country and the amount of snow we have on the ground is at least twice as high as the dogs!

I used to be so good about exercising and that all went out the window a couple of years ago when I bottomed out with terrible anemia.  Didn't have the energy to get out of bed let alone exercise so I allowed myself a pass on that one.  I will start to get into a regular routine again and then work travel (I do travel a good bit with my job) or something else will get me thrown off and then it's anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months before I get back at it.  I've done water aerobics in the past and really liked it, but it was at an outdoor pool so is only available in the summertime.  I really don't have an excuse for not exercising....have a treadmill at home and lots of workout DVDs.  For me it's getting motivated and staying motivated.

I like the idea of warming the cold clothes in the micro!  During my lunch hour I go out to the car and bring the clothes into my office so they are at least room temp by the end of the workday.  If I change into my workout clothes before leaving work I have less of an excuse not to stop and get in a workout.

Sounds like you had a good day!

Water is the next thing I need to work on.  Prior to surgery I drank loads of water...especially with meals.  After surgery I just didn't have the pouch capacity to drink as much as before and the whole not-drinking-while-eating and having to wait at least an hour after eating before taking a drink or else it would cause me to throw up, really screwed up my desire to take in more fluids.  Plus I developed the bad habit a few years ago of substituting coffee over water as my liquid of choice!

So it sounds like some of us are getting a slow start to the new year (myself included). Well, that's ok... at least we are mentally "getting started" and soon the body will follow. lol. Last week I focused more on better eating habits and healthier food choices. This week I'm working on exercise and drinking more water. A little at a time and soon we'll all be reaching our goals!

Worked out for 45 minutes today and drank 8 glasses of water! Woohoo!

Okay, okay.  Next week I'll post my progress. I've just been in such a foul mood, that I don't even want to look at the scale much less get on it.

It is so easy to forget we are all on borrowed time and to not take time to appreciate everything.  Yes, even how lovely snow really does look on the evergreens on a full moon night.

Hi MaryEllen,

The exercise part of my plan has never been a really big problem , have been faithful about 3 days a week @ water aerobics or tread mill since the beginning...The cold has been deterring me from adding some type of additional exercise the other 4 days, primarily because my "added" exercise is power walking the dogs around my neighborhood - while I do not live in the great white north ( although did live in Alaska for 5 yrs ), since surgery I am COLD pretty much all the time and down here in the south the humidity makes the "minor" cold temps feel bone-chilling...

Keep putting the clothes in the car, and if necessary zap them in the micro 1st before you put them on ( my mom does this with her socks & undies and she lives in FL - )

We're going to succeed, we've just got to keep plugging away...

I slacked off with exercise last week.....only worked out one day.  I let the snow, cold, and bad roads be my excuse for not getting to Curves, but even with being at home I didn't do any of my home workout DVDs.

Today is a new day.  Have my workout clothes in the car and will stop and get it done on my way home from work.

Truth be told....I felt like such a hypocrite a couple of weeks back. I had such great intentions for the new year and was ready to start on New Year's Day. You may have even noticed the start date of this group was January 1st. In the morning we got a call from some friends who wanted us to come over for a few snacks and drinks. I too planned to have just one and keep to my plan. Here it was the very first day and I had already blown it. No, I stopped and re-evaluated and said to myself, "Self, you are not going to let this get you down". I have to say that here it is 1/3 of the way through the month of January and I have done quite well from that point on. I checked my weight with where I was in August of 2009 and I'm right in there. To me that is a success and now I continue to build on that.

I'm so glad Alesia that you just stepped forward and admitted where you were and how you plan to fix it. I'm super happy for you and now you are well on your way to reaching your goals.

Any other confessions or admissions? We will not judge, but it does the mind some good to throw it out there in the open for more to see...and then we can move on. Come on some of you member wallflowers...tell us what is on your mind in your own due time....when you are ready.

Best wishes for your success.

John

OK,
I need to reach back and kick my own butt into gear...The 1st week of the new year has passed and I still feel like I'm letting the chance to make it work pass me by ...Went to a NewYear open house on Saturday - snacked some & knew I was going to, so planned my food day around it - HOWEVER, what I didn't plan for was the alcohol, thought I would have A drink and nurse it thru the party,  did NOT happen that way...Woke up Sunday head in hand, took re-accountability and set this weeks plan in motion, I'm not letting one night sabatage my 10410 results...

Made the weeks menu's, bought the necessities & spent the day cooking...Made 2 hearty protein heavy soups - sausage & lentil and white chicken chili...Had the lentil for dinner last night, will have again for lunch today with a lf cheese stick...
