Coffee , specifically Latte's became my cross addiction post surgery, never much of a coffee drinker before, but definately have a leaning to it now...In the past few years I have used the non-fat milk ladden latte as a substitute for my breakfast protein shake and have done so on a regular basis...Does not affect my water consumption ( still get 80 oz+ a day of water ) but as I posted before, I think the lattes have had an affect on my little regain...So for now I'm limiting myself to once a week as a splurge for DH & me time at the local Starbucks on Saturday or Sunday A.M. and of course taking other steps to get & keep myself on track...

I haven't posted since I joined because I went back to the basics in regards to my exercise. The scale has started moving again. Last week I lost 3 lbs. I gained 20 lbs since I got married in October and the holidays. So I'm working hard to get that re-gain off. it's harder the second time around. I need help with my eating. I'm eating all the time. Yes sometimes it's because I'm hungry and other times it's just to be chewing. Any help in regards to my eating would greatly be appreciated. Thanks for the support
I did the post op life months before I became one and now the shakes just dont make it out of the container.I do try and get at least 70 grams of protein in but the carbs are my down fall. John is right one comes and brings all of their friends...
So glad John sent me an invite

I like the scale too. I have the two offical weigh-ins of the week. For this group I do a Friday weigh-in and then for several months Christine and I have been doing a Monday morning weigh-in that we record in a log here at home. It is amazing how having to face the scale keeps you so focused.
I'll admit that I weigh every morning, but I don't let that number rattle me either. It is just a number that has normal fluctuations and gives me an idea of a trend. When I get back below my 200 pound level my objective it so get to 197 and then just stay under 200 pounds and bounce around down there.
So....I agree....it is better to weigh each day than to stay away.

Regain of 20 pounds has thrown me for a loop - will not let this get the best of me - what am I doing about it?

Here is what I like...
I like to get up early and start my day.
I like what Christine looks like after 1 1/2 years RNY postop...size 6 with over 100 pounds gone and only 10 left to go.
I like that I'm still considered successful and have lost and kept off 70% of my excess weight. I could even gain 24 more pounds and STILL be considered a success...at least in the bariatric world.
I like that I have daughters who don't give me any grief about getting good grades in school. I don't have to nag them to do homework...nor do I have to nag my boys. I even and blessed to have a son who got a 98% on a chemistry test...I think I would have had a hard time matching that.
I like the fact that my sons will play 3 varsity games this week...and that they are both in the starting line-up for every game. They have athletic abilty that I only dreamed of.
I'm so thankful for 2 good jobs (careers) in these more difficult economic times.
I'm thankful that I love to get up in the morning to go to work and face 32 5th graders each day - and love my career.
I love this old drafty house...over a 100 years old and still going strong.
I like that we are having temps in the upper 30's and even will hit the 40's this week.
I like that we have a great group of people on this board who are making the commitment to make life better in 2010 than it was in 2009.
I hope all of you have a great day

Yes the scale can be your friend if you do not obsess about what it says, it is just another tool in your weight loss journey.
