Hi, everyone, I am happy to find ths group. I had rny in july 06, and lost 113 lbs. in one year. I kept it off for the first year, even though I thought my weight was a little too low.I had never been that thin at 150 and 5"5, i was ok with it. Then gained about 10 lbs and was reaaly happy there, size 10 , having fun, loving life. Well, now 3 1/2 yrs out I am up 35 lbs. That is waaaaay more then a 10% bounceback. This week I went and joined weigh****chers to lose 20 lbs. I need to be held accountable in order to get back on track. My  biggest fear at this point is to go over 200 (at 185 now) and I have to get it back under control, so that's my story and again, I am happy to find thid forum

Gayle,

I'm so sorry to hear of the health problems with your mother. I hope that all goes well for her.

Keep up the good work on the weight loss. I'm glad to hear that you are still pointed in the right direction with all of that going on.

Best wishes for your mom's recovery.

I know most people use Friday or Monday as their accountability day, but since the 100 day challenge I am part of started on a Thursday, I am using that as my "official" day.  So, officially, I am down 5 lbs.

I am only aiming for 1 to 2 lbs. a week, so the 5 is a pretty big number for me.  But I know that a good part of that is the typical "first week" loss--water weight, etc.  But I've been good about keeping the snack down (and healthy) and staying with my exercise.

So now on the the next 13 lbs. and staying with the exercise.

Sorry for not being here for a while...my mother was rushed to the hospital last Monday and was to have surgery that night....well they did not do surgery until yesterday, so I was sitting with her in a hospital 2 hours from my home and 3 hours from her home.  Had to get ugly as they let her sit for over 24 hours without any doctor seeing her...

The good news in this is that I did not gain any weight, and even lost a pound....so just goes to show that stress does not have to get the best of your weight loss!

Topic: When the going gets tough
You know the rest...the tough get going.

I'm just loving this new year. This morning I just weighed in at 217.6 (hit 230 at the end of December and scared the daylights out of me) and I'm so excited. In all of 2009 I would have loved to be at this weight. You can get this back under control when we all work together. We all know who our enemy is. That is why I'm proposing that we all get our armor on and united we can attack that terrible "carb monster". I don't want to use just a slingshot and a few pebbles. I'd much rather ride in there with our swords drawn and ready to attack (you can tell I teach 5th grade - right?).

If you have fallen off your horse a few times, just keep getting back up. The toughest time of the new year's resolution is nearly to the point of passing. I don't care if it takes me all year to get to my goal, I'm committed to fighting. Your stories inspire me when I most need it...so keep telling us how it is going. We still even have a few people joining our little growing army each week.

My wife, Christine, who had her WLS in June of 08, is moving steadily toward her goal and is only about 10 pounds away from being a normal weight for the first time since her high school basketball days. These are exciting times, so tell us how they are exciting for you.

Keeping up the fight...

John

2 pounds is great....keep that up and running....just 13 more for you and you'll hit the mark.

I can really relate to the carb thing as that is my big downfall. I too really need to stay away from them or they just take over.

Have a great week Alesia.

Still just down 1 pound. I've been working out 3 days a week but I'm still drinking too much coffee and not enough water. I think I'm eating ok... but maybe not enough protein. So, I have a few things I need to work on this week. Less coffee, more water and definitely more protein! Hoping to see more pounds drop off.

Reached my goal weight of 135... then gained 13 lbs. back. Now it's time to get back on track and shed those extra pounds before they get out of control.

Current weight:  147
Lost:  1 pound so far
Goal weight:  135
Need to lose:  12 more pounds to reach goal!

Here is my perspective that I'm guessing a couple of you might relate to. For the first 2 1/2 years post-op (after the intital first 12 months where I was very faithful) I have pretended to stay in at 1200 calories and around 100 grams of protein. I would be very good at tracking my food for the first two meals and then blow it out of the water for the last 1/3 of the day.

I'm guessing that I was up around 2000 cals on average...leading to my gain. I'm working hard at keeping my calorie intake at 14-1500 for the day and trying to be faithful with my journaling. So far it has worked, but I may back it down as time goes on so long as I don't find myslef craving food too much.

As a man I know that they normally say a couple hundred less for the ladies. I also agree that exercise in a key factor and I may reward myself with an extra treat or 100 calories on days that I get out and walk.

Best wishes.

Karin,

What a nice and wonderful list. You certainly seem to have things in the right perspective to get it all back under control. Keep up the great perspective.
