As for carbs, maybe you could start moderating your intake by changing the type of carbs you eat. Instead of the mindless eating carbs--snacks and sweets--maybe move to denser breads, brown rice instead of white or pasta, sweet potatoes instead of white ones, regular or steel cut oatmeal instead of instant or dried cereal, etc. And, of course, fruits and veggies. That way whatever it is your body is wanting from the carbs, it still gets but in healthier, more filling, and slower processing ways. I eat a lot of beans and lentils and find that helps. And good carbs aren't really designed for stress eating--they take some effort to prepare and consume. A good thing.
If you are a "foodie"--which I am guilty of--find a copy of "Fine Cooking" magazine. In the back they have the nutrition breakdown of their recipes. You will be shocked by the calorie contents in some things. That always helps me say no when I realize that piece of cake has 800+ calories!
I've learned not to order ONLY two chicken breasts at a time anyway. When I ordered I had to wait for my order to be assembled and the lady called out (quite loudly I might add) my exact order and left out the word "chicken". Everyone in the whole store turned to to look up at the front of the store...can you say a bit awkward...yeah???
You will get everything back in line and stay on your way to success. I'm sure that you will have some business to attend to in the future in TC and when you do, you will enjoy the KFC treat.

I would advise anyone to start by investing an hour in reading the threads in here at this part of our site. I think you will find many of the secrets to success hidden below your post. I've read most of it and found many motivating and helpful hints.
You can do it...I know you can.

I agree that it is so good that you are not throwing that towel in on the new resolution. As you recall from the old post-op days, just when you felt that the scale was not moving it would happen. If you are doing everything on track, it will happen...just keep on that good track.
Look on the good side...only 4 more months of winter up there in Michigan...especially in Kalkaska. Gotta love Michigan...the two seasons state...July and winter. I hope you aren't offended by my humor as I grew up in Traverse City (as you may recall).
Just keep on going..you are getting there.
Are you journaling and keeping track of all of your intake? What are the foods you are using that are helping you the most? Drinking loads of water? Coarse protien like chicken, egg whites, tuna, turkey breasts, etc.
Go treat yourself at KFC. You can have the Extra Crispy chicken breast (they cost only $2.50 here) and then peel off all of that awful skin (throw it in the trash before you even eat if you are like me) and you get a treat at 150 cals and 31 grams of protein....I look forward to this when I adventure to the "big city".
Soon to find the success you are looking for...but you already sound like a great success to me.

I agree the people here are inspiring. Three pounds is three pounds and almost a pound a week. I think it is so much harder to lose weight now since we were all post-ops and had that weight dropping off left and right in the old days. For some reason we have a harder time wrapping the mind around the slower weight loss as being a good thing...but it really is.
Keep up the good work. Watch out 135...here comes Lisa.

With your three pounds our cumulative total is 27.8 I think.

I haven't been exercising as much as I would like to due to a bum knee. However, I have been doing very well on the diet and have lost 3-lbs. I know it's only 3 lbs. but I'll take em! Once the swelling in my knee goes down I'll be back exercising which should help drop a few more pounds.
My goal is to get back to 135 and I'm at 147 right now. So, need to lose 12 more pounds to reach my goal! Wish me luck!
Cheers!
Lisa
Hey Brook...
Hang on, you are doing awesome by just choosing to stay the course ...Don't know how far out post-op or how close to goal...What I do know is the last 10-15 lbs are the hardest to lose, the closer to goal you are, the slower your body will be to let it go - this is true the 1st time you reach goal and every time you repeat the process because of regains...Remember, even "regular" people struggle with the last few lbs, just stay the course, its going to happen...
