Oh...the YO Yo
JTR,
I feel your pain...Maintenance is definately where the real work begins...I was watching a show yesterday, on The Discovery Channel about just this matter...The tool goes a long way toward getting us to or close to our weightloss goal during the first 1-2 yrs, but if you don't learn to rethink your food habits while the honeymoon phase is on you can truly beat out the goal of the tool by sliding back into those bad habits that got you fat in the first place (I'm sorry to say I personally know too many people who have regained almost all they lost from having surgery)...ALL of us have lost and gained hundreds of pounds over the course of our lifetimes ( the yo-yo effect ), the trick now is to use what we've learned and our surgical tool to keep the bounce of the yo-yo low, this is maintenance...I know I have bounced up more on the yo-yo string than I ever wanted to again and now I'm rolling it up and cutting the string short...I've got to take control again now before it gets out of control again...Thats why I'm here, you too I would guess...
You CAN do it...If your are not journaling your food, START now! If you are not getting in at least a couple days of exercise a week, START now! If you are already doing both these things, its time to look hard at what your choices are and make changes & adjustments...Keep checking in, support from any and all sources is a good thing...
You've done a great job getting to this point, now you just have to make the good things a permanent habit...
