When the going gets tough
You know the rest...the tough get going.
I'm just loving this new year. This morning I just weighed in at 217.6 (hit 230 at the end of December and scared the daylights out of me) and I'm so excited. In all of 2009 I would have loved to be at this weight. You can get this back under control when we all work together. We all know who our enemy is. That is why I'm proposing that we all get our armor on and united we can attack that terrible "carb monster". I don't want to use just a slingshot and a few pebbles. I'd much rather ride in there with our swords drawn and ready to attack (you can tell I teach 5th grade - right?).
If you have fallen off your horse a few times, just keep getting back up. The toughest time of the new year's resolution is nearly to the point of passing. I don't care if it takes me all year to get to my goal, I'm committed to fighting. Your stories inspire me when I most need it...so keep telling us how it is going. We still even have a few people joining our little growing army each week.
My wife, Christine, who had her WLS in June of 08, is moving steadily toward her goal and is only about 10 pounds away from being a normal weight for the first time since her high school basketball days. These are exciting times, so tell us how they are exciting for you.
Keeping up the fight...

Regain of 20 pounds has thrown me for a loop - will not let this get the best of me - what am I doing about it?

That's great! I have been pretty good this week but have gained weight. I had really started off with mostly shakes then started eating "normal." Not bad ... just "normal" and the scales went up. Like you said early on, I, too, can have weight fluctuations. Glad I come come here to get help with my head.
Great job John!!! Your success is inspiring to me and I love reading what you post. I wish I could join you in posting a success story about myself but for some reason the weight is not coming off for me. But your posts keep me pluggin away at it and I just know soon I'll be posting stories like yours. Thanks for sharing!
Cheers!
Cheers!
Thanks so much for your response Lisa.
This board has been much quieter than I thought it would, but that is okay. I did celebrate this weekend with Christine and I'm paying for it at the scales this week. I'm literally telling myself that it is okay if this comes off 1/2 pound a wee****il I get back down there. Christine and I both had terrible bloating from all of the poor food choices so we are both glad to be back to our veggies and protein.
Thanks for your words. I hope that things are going well for you this week.
