Weighing in accountability options

Okay folks, time to face the music...
We need to find an accountability tool that works for each individual person...but you DO NOT need to share anything beyond what you are comfortable with. Everyone needs to find the method of accountabily that works for them. The only thing I see is that everyone should at least make the attempt to check in each wee****il you get to your 10 (or more) pound loss goal.
I'm throwing a few options out here for you to consider.
Option1
Weigh in on each Friday
Option 2
Weigh in on each Saturday
Option 3
Weigh in on each Sunday
Option 4
Weigh in on each Monday
Option 5
Weigh in each of those 4 days and take the lowest (I weigh each morning anyway)
Option 6
Use your lowest weight for the calendar week (example - Jan 3 through Jan 9)
Option 7
Anything else not memtioned
I'm also thinking that we all need to have a starting weight or a beginning personal benchmark. I don't think it needs to be the highest, but whatever you want to set at your target starting. For instance, I had a weight of around 218 pretty consistantly before the end of December. I spiked to over 230 (which quite frankly kind of freaked me out and led me here to this group) during my holiday eating. I'm now in the low 220's. I've decided to set my benchmark at 220 and I'm going after 23 pounds to get to 197 and then I'm going to focus in on staying between 197-199 for all of 2010. That is my personal goal and plan. I weighed in at 220.6 this morning so I am 0.6 over my new starting benchmark. I'm just looking at the 230 weight as a fluctuation and bloating more than anything (and I felt pretty crappy). For right now I'm personally going to use Friday as my official weighin for the week.
So when I check in my markers will look something like this
Starting Benchmark
220
Week Current +/- Benchmark To 2010 goal
#1 (Jan 3-8) 220.6 (Jan 8) +0.6 23.6
I'm certainly open for suggestions on any other features you would like to see. Each Friday anyone should feel free to start the accountability thread and if everyone could just add to that one. If you get here early and start the thread, I think it would be good to to use CAPITAL letters for that weekly posting since it will be the one to key in on during the week. If you DO NOT want to post your current weight, then just go ahead and leave that column out and do not post your Starting Benchmark. Again it is important that you feel comfortable here and want to come back often and share your successes or concerns during the rest of the week. We will have more success when we enourage and work together.
Any other suggestions???...open to any and all.
I hope you had a good week and even a better one for week #2.
John
P.S. Also, one little housekeeping chore I'd like to mention today. One of my goals is to see each new tread on the discusssion board have at least one or more responses. I would be happy to repond to each one, but it puts my mug up there too much. At least one response to a message says, "Hey, I respect what you had to say and I just want you to know I care". One thing I don't like on some of the other message boards is when someone posts and everyone just sits there mute with no response. It can make that person feel unwelcome. We want to be very inclusive of everyone because weight regain can be very scary and we never know where anyone is emotionally. Also, anyone interested in being a Group Leader can feel free to PM me and I'll add you on.

Regain of 20 pounds has thrown me for a loop - will not let this get the best of me - what am I doing about it?
www.obesityhelp.com/group/Drop10410
OK John,
I agree taking account - for me publicly - make sense, posting it outloud makes it harder to put myself into denial...
I vote for a Monday posting since I am not so faithful about weekend food tracking, posting on Monday morning might help keep me in line over the weekends - BUT I will go with the flow...
Soon as I see the post I'll jump on...

Alesia : start 249 / surgeon's goal 138 / current 142
I work weekend nights (sat and sun nights as a nurse) so my weights on Monday AM's are never accurate. I usually go with Wed AM weights and always have. LOL So I guess option 7.. but I will go with the group. I probably will not count my weight on Mondays tho b/c I drink all night and on my feet etc.. it just doesn't work to weigh after all that.
Hugs, Melissa

Oppps....I'm realizing that to some people it appeared that I was taking a poll to decide how to handle the weigh ins. What I meant was that you just can pick your favorite choice/option and just go ahead and use that one. All I'd recommend is whatever you decide to do, just try to do it the same way each week for consistent results.
Best wishes.
John

Thanks for doing this, John.
after playing around a little, I was able to copy/paste your weight in page, then deleted your stats, and put my own in.
if I understand this right, we are just coming back once a week, edit our post, and put in the new weight results for the week, right?
I like this a lot, it won't clog up the page, its neat, and one can watch his/her own progress, and see how everybody else is doing in the course of the month, without searching the whole board for weight in results.
I bookmarked the weight in page, so it is even easier for me to go back to it, without searching for it.
I hope everybody in here has a great week, Karin
