My Sx is in 12 days and I was wondering if anyone had any hints on keeping my very affection large dog and my small dog off my belly after the Sx?   They both like to sit in/on my lap.

I've got 5 at home - 2 big Airedales, 3 small Cairns. My youngest - 2 year old Airedale ***** is a wild thing and I was a bit worried about her upon my home coming. Cutest thing was that she figured out something was wrong, really wrong with me, in just a minute or two. She settled right down and wouldn't leave my side for 24 hours. She seriously grumbled at my partner coming to get in bed with me the first night I was home.
Their noses will smell out the incisions immediately and they'll know that you're "hurt". Seriously, all my dogs were great with me during recovery.

Thank You for responding.  I really hope they figuer it out.  I am not too worried about my moms Pom mix.  But I have a active 4 year old Canaan Dog.  She is obd trainned and I am reenforceing a strong sit this week along with Off.  I am thinking of buying some chewie treats to keep her busy will I am recovering.

My dogs were quite good while I was recovering -- and I have an actual herd of toy and standard manchesters. I used my 'off' command a few times, but otherwise they were pretty respectful.  Given the dogs are perfectly willing to rebound off your stomach, generally, i think they just sensed to leave me alone.

keep some pillows on your belly so they can't get in your lap or it won't hurt  so much if they do. A few loud "no's" kept my springy border terriers off my belly. and its right that they know you are not well and will snuggle up.   Diane
