Dog Fanciers
Welcome!
Hey great idea. there are lots of us around. We all know a lot of obese people who are into dogs. Guess its the unconditional love that dogs give us.
I gotta admit my weight was one of the things that made me less active in showing dogs as I mainly did obedience and it was too hard physically. Used to do a lot of tracking that meant walking over somewhat rough terrain. Now that I have lost weight I haven't done as much dog stuff as I thought I would - to busy doing other fun stuff and I now live where its a long way to shows. But still love the stuff.
So thanks for getting this group going. Maybe I will get inspired to work on a tracking title again.

There are too many. I think it comes with the territory, to an extent. Long hours, putting dogs ahead of ourselves, eating crap while on the road,e tc.
We're looking at the Coursing Ability Test along with conformation and Rally. I went to my first show of the year, finally yesterday. I missed most of the circuit due to Dave's grandfather, but it felt good to get out.

I'm glad you've joined us! Hopefully when (not if) you get your insurance situation sorted out, your weight and the knees will get better. I am so greatful I had my sleeve. I don't regret it for a moment even though I was self-pay. I was actually back in the ring a few weeks post-op, and flew out to a national specialty with a dog under the seat of the plane at 5 weeks post-op.

Hi Ladies!
Carolyn, what a great idea!
I can't tell you how excited I am to get back into the ring. I'm going to the Cow Palace this weekend to visit friends, but don't show myself until Santa Clara in February. I don't think any of my suits will fit by then. I hate the idea of having to get rid of those suits, but I'm loving not being so damned fat anymore. I can't believe I have less than 50 pounds left to lose.
Diane, we must have run into one another at times, but I'm not sure. I live in No. California, too. I have Airedales and Cairns. My Cairns are all old now (11 to 16) and I stopped breeding them. Mostly I'm in the Airedale ring these days.
