Thanks, I was once again freaking out!   I have changed my diet to soft now...I made some homemade chicken soup with some vegetables in the crock pot so I am hoping this will make everything tender enough to handle.  Tossed the bacon, sausage and ham over to my husband...lol...going to stick with the plan.  I am glad that you are doing so well! I hope to be able to correspond with you later!   Hey I am down to 204 now, I was at 230 on the date of surgery...soooo close to onderland.

I'm not supposed to eat bacon or any processed meats (hot dogs, sausage, processed lunch meats, etc.)

The bariatric physician starts everyone on B12 shots at 2 months.  My levels are fine so far.

I ate chicken about a week ago and got very ill.  It was chicken breast and I cut it into tiny pieces and chewed the living daylights out of it.  About an hour later I got severe stomach pain, which lasted several hours.  Then I vomited it all up and felt much better - pain gone.  My dietician said it was the chicken - it's too fibrous for my pouch to handle right now. She said the same thing would happen if I had tried steak.  The only way at this point for me to eat those foods is to put them in food processor to break down the fibers.

It sounds more like the foods you are eating than your gallbladder.  My husband had to have his gallbladder removed and he said the pain made him think he was having a heart attack.

Huge congratulations on the Onderland!! I can't wait to get there too!!  Happy to hear you are doing well and staying healthy.  Are you low on B or are you just trying to supplement it?  I have lost almost 25 lbs since surgery.  Have a question...I have been getting ill after I eat dinner the past couple of days...have you ever had trouble with your gallbladder?  I have decided to swear off any pork   (had 2 slices of bacon, 1 small piece of ham, 1 sausage) or anything that looks greasy because I don't like feeling like crap for 2-3 hours afterward...this just started.

Topic: My 2 month check up

I saw both my dietician and bariatric physician yesterday at Mayo.

I am doing better and getting my protein and fluids in, so the dietician is pleased with me.  According to their scale, I have lost 30 lbs since the day of surgery.  That is 13% of my body weight on my day on surgery.  Mayo's goal is to have lost 35% of day of surgery weight weight by one year.  That means I am 1/3 of the way there after two months.  Good thing, since I know weight loss slows down as you get closer to goal.

All was fine with the bariatric physician too.  He didn't have my labs back yet, so he said he'd call me if there are any problems.  I am however, starting on my monthly vitamin B12 shots.  He also gave me my "Restaurant Card", a card signed by him stating that I have had a surgical procedure requiring a restricted diet.  I am to be allowed to order small portions or order of the childrens' menu.  If there are any questions, it states to call him at the number listed.  I think it's cool, but I rarely eat out.

And now I don't have see them for 4 more months (my 6 month post up check up).  Yay!

Karen

PS  On their scale with clothes yesterday afternoon, I weighed 200.  At home on my scale Tuesday morning, I was 198.  Woo hoo for Wonderland!!

Topic: RE: worked out 2x today

Great job. Working out is so much fun. I feel bad when I can go. I too had to train myself to not care what others feel about me. I started jogging on the treadmill. I walk for 20 min (on 3.5) but on every 3rd min (3,6,9 etc) I jog for 1 min (at 4.0). At 228lbs it is hard for me to do, but I do it. My face is red and Im breathing hard but Im there for me, noone else. When I first started doing that I could only jog every 5th min and only did 15 min. I am so proud of myself to be able to say I jogged even for 1 min. Hopefully I can build to jog for 75 seconds or so. For now the 1 min is just hard enough lol, Keep it up

Hey Guys!!! I have not forgot you just busy with school and then when I tried to log on It would not let me reply to anyone. I had to send a note to the help desk to see whats up.....Anyway I spent the past 30 min catching up on your posts. I cant say how proud I am of all you. We are doing it. Loosing weight and settling into life. I am sure it is hard someday as it is with me but every day is a learning curve. I have learned my sleeve is not a fan of celery. And I can only eat 2 chicken nuggets at a time. I love it. Since I do not have insurance I have not had an official 2 month check up. I feel great and am slowly loosing. I dont always get my fluids in, but I try. As I have said before I was never a drinker before( maybe 20 oz all day if that before surgery) so when I drink 40 oz I am so happy. I am down 46 since my highest and 40 since pre op. I am still exercising 5-6 days a week. I stopped for about a month because I was working a part time nursing job at a patients house. It was overnight but I was not allowed to sleep. So I spent the daytime sleeping. My weight stalled around 232-230 for that time. I was not tracking my food cause I was eating on the run. Now I dont take care of the patient anymore so I am back tracking and at the gym. School is going well I have 2 A's and a B so Im starting out great. I miss you all and know you are in my mind.

My dietician said Milk of Magnesia was safe to take as needed.

Do you like tea?  I'm not a big fan of water, but I can drink decaf tea all day long. Even warm water goes down more easily for me than cold water.

Good job on the walking and on the weight loss!!

nana, I finally found the reference I wanted for you. According to the resident vitamin and supplement guru, carbonyl iron will not constipate you. It may be worth looking for!

I am just a little over 2 months out and down 43 pounds.  I feel so good.  I've not had any complications and I'm walking 2.5 - 3 miles a day.  My greatest challenge is getting in my water, I have never been much of a water drinker.  I still rely on at least 1 protein shake per day to get in all my protein.  I've only had nausea twice, both times I overate and it took a couple of hours to feel better.  I have not actually thrown up since surgery.  A little TMI, I'm having a terrible time with constipation but reading other posts, this seems normal.
