Welcome Home Karen. Now the healing and loosing begins. You will be bloated from gas and fluids the first week. I had gained 8 pounds while in the hospital. Once your more mobile and walk it off you will loose it very quickly. You are now on your way....I also found which I didnt post before that a killer headache comes from dehydration. It is one of the key signs. Once I started to drink the headache went away. I am so glad you are doing better. Please keep us posted.

I'm glad you are feeling more normal every day.  That gives me a lot of hope!

Thanks, I am sure every day will be a little bit better.  It helps that my husband and our daughter and SIL watch me like a hawk so I don't lift, pull or push anything.  My husband won't even let me do the laundry.  Normally I'd protest that, but for now I'm fine with it!

I bought some flavored extract like root beer, orange and hazelnut. The root beer goes awesome with the vanilla shake. I put it in my nutribullet with ice and it tastes like a root beer float. You can try many different things with the extract flavors. I also found that drinking all the time helped relieve my hunger. Good luck

Pam,

If my protein drinks didn't count towards total fluid for the day, I'd be in big trouble.  I'm still falling short, but I'm trying to do a little better every day.

Thanks, it's good to be back!

Hi Diane,

I was told to crush everything for one year, then I can take pills again.

The powder (and insides of capsules) isn't bad when mixed with unsweetened applesauce, which is what my pharmacologist recommended.  I had asked the nutritionist ahead of time if I should measure out a certain amount of applesauce for the day.  She said that within reason, I could use as much of the stuff as needed to get my meds down.

Other than sharing me dread of dealing with meds, how are you doing?

Sorry I'm late in reading your post but I just can't not respond.  I'm glad you are home and I am so sorry you had to deal with all that stuff.  Sounds like it is worked out now though and that is a good thing.  It is easy (at least for me) to forget that this is major surgery and that things can go wrong.  Welcome to the belching ( for me it has been farting) bench and hopefully it will soon be the losers bench as well.  Keep up your good spirits and, move move move.  Please keep us posted on how you are feeling.

Welcome back.  Glad you are home but sad you had a difficult time.  Things will get better from here.   It is difficult for me to relate to what you have had to go through. I have had no trouble with fluids, severe pain or anything like that and am grateful that my body has seemed to tolerate everything well.   Give yourself a little time and all the difficult stuff you just went through will be a distant memory.  For me very day gets a little easier and I feel a little more normal.
