Welcome home KC. I am sure by now you are getting settled in and getting into a routine. The more you walk the better it is for the gas. Just make sure you are alone.....lol. everyone will hear you. I am used to chugging water so its hard for me to drink slowly. Good luch and welcome home.

Have you been taking your calcium supplements? One of the earliest signs of low blood calcium is tingling or 'pins and needles' sensation in and around the mouth and lips.
While I was in the hospital, my calcium dropped before normal. The discarged me with a prescription nasal spray of calcium - and told me to watch out for tingling of my lips or/are tongue (and to call if I experienced either).
You might want to run it by your surgeon on Monday. They might want to some lab work now instead of waiting until your next visit.

Welcome home!! Keep up the good work on the fluids, and try to get your protein in too.
Never fear, the gas will pass.

Hi all,
weird question... How long did it take for you to have your tongue feel normal?
Surgery was Monday am, and the tip of my tongue is still numb and tingly. It's very odd.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Made it home today! My surgery was scheduled for 7:45am Tues 12/31, my husband said I was back in the room by 12:30 (I dont remember much) slept til 4:30 or so before starting to take laps around "the block." Took two laps then, another nap and a couple more laps later. Sleep a few hours, wake up for vital's and/or meds and took another lap or two each time. The nursing staff at Cayuga Medical Center (Ithaca, NY) were absolutely excellent, as was my surgeon Dr. Bollo. Everything went very smoothly, I had no pain post-op. It felt like/feels like I had a really good ab workout. I overdid it a little with the walking and caused some sore muscles in the legs too, lol! I started clear liquids about 24 hrs after getting back to my room. So far so good! Thanks again everyone for the support. I hope everyone who had their surgeries earlier in the month are healing well. Here's to a happy and healthy new year!!!! 2014!!!
Happy New Year to all! My son and his new girlfriend came over, so we had about 8 people sitting playing a card game until after 2 am. What an amazing feeling to watch them all snack on junk food and not be the least bit interested in it!! Let me tell ya, that was a first!
Looking forward to this year, to being healthier, thinner and hopefully a bit wiser about life.
You said it! we are on our way to a "new you". ! Hope to see lots of posts regarding our journeys.
Glad to see you are home where you can rest! I had my rny on 12/26 and didn't start moving the gas out until I was out and taking my walks. Blew up the neighborhood, lol. Just rest for now. The gas will pass!
