UPDATE
I am finally home. I had my surgery on Monday in Tijuana. Everything went great. I agree with most, the wort day is the day after surgery. I only had 3 incisions and he said it was easy because I stuck to my pre op diet. I ate several Popsicles on the 2nd day. I didn't like the ice too much. My surgeon does not use narcotics so all I got was tramadol which was ok. I had 2 bouts of nausea where I though I was going to throw up. Thank God I didnt. A cold washcloth to the forehead and deep breathing was the solution. I showered and took a small walk outside on the 2nd day. I passed the leak test on Wed and was released to o back to the hotel. I layed on my side which was heaven. I will say that when he took my drain out it was horrible. The pain was bad. But thankfully it was over in a few seconds. Now I am home in Florida, I have drank 15 oz of apple juice while on the plane. I feel wonderful. I actually gained a few pounds so I am not on the loosing side yet.

Welcome home! You'll be on the losing side in no time. Besides the IV fluids you retain post op, people always retain fluids when they fly too. As soon as you pee it all out, you'll be on the downward path!
Where in Florida do you live? I may have asked you before, but I have memory issues due to my Sjogren's. (They call it Sjogren's Fog; some days the fog is thicker than others.) I live in Sarasota, about an hour south of Tampa. I'm having my surgery 4 hours away at Mayo in Jacksonville.
How long did you have to stay in the hotel after you were discharged? I have to stay a while too, but the nurse was a little more on the shorter side than the surgeon. I'm sure he just wants to cover himself, but I have no desire to stay in a hotel from Thursday until Monday if I'm doing well. I much prefer the nurse's suggestion: stay in the hotel until Saturday morning, and if you are doing well - go home.

I live about 45 min from you in Clearwater. I had surgery Monday, I stayed in the hospital until Wed morning. I was discharged back to hotel on wed and flew home thurs. You will feel great days 3-4. I am feeling great.

I'm being nosey here, feel free to not answer. Where did you have surgery that you had to fly home to Clearwater?
Are you loving our cooler temps? I have a VERY narrow comfort zone when it comes to the temperature; I won't like it if it gets much cooler!!
Happy to hear you are feeling so well.

Oh my goodness. You are not being nosey. I flew to Tiajuana Mexico. My surgeon was Sergio Quiones. I had BCBS and called them to see if they covered WLS. They said it was a case by case basis. So at the end of Nov I submitted to them my referral. I was denied because my employer had a clause restricting any form of WLS. So I had 3 options. 1. pay cash price in the states 20K in Florida, Marry my boyfriend (his insurance pays 100%) or 3 go to mexico. Mexico was a wonderful experience. I only paid $4150 not including airfare. I am a nurse and would say I got as good of service there. I felt like a queen. I am a week out and have no complications.
I love the cold weather. But wanna know something weird. Since surgery, I cannot keep warm. I am constantly cold and even bought an electric blanket. I always said fat girls dont get cold. Well after WLS yes they do lol.

Glad to hear that things went well for you, Shannon! Hopefully those extra fluids pounds will drop off soon, as well as all the rest of them. Best wishes for a continued good recovery!
(PS If my surgeon doesn't give me narcotics I'm going to grab his lower lip and pull it up over his head!)

You make me laugh. My surgeon said he wanted me out of bed and walking. I did have an epidural pain block during surgery which lasts 24 hours. it was great. I have a bottle of tramadol which I dont take. It is not as bad as expected.
