Update

Hey guys!  I had my surgery on 12/4 and I'm doing great!  The most painful day way the day after surgery but my surgeon was very generous with pain meds.  By third day, I was only needing the strong stuff before bed at night.  Tylenol was helping, so I could be up and walking.  I mostly have concentrated on staying hydrated, but today I've made a point to get at least 3 shakes in.  I'm 1/4 way through the 3rd one right now.  I feel really good.  I am soooo ready to get rid of this drain.  It makes my side more sore than the rest of me.  I'll get it out Wednesday.  YEA!!!!!  Also, I'm anxious to see if I've lost any more when I go in.  My scale here is broken.  Anyway,  I just wanted to update.  Good luck with all the upcoming surgeries.  You got this!!!

That's great news! I'm glad to hear things are going so well for you. Yippee!!  

It is great to hear from you and how great you are doing. I am not getting as much down as you are sadly, but I am trying. I did not have a drain in, what was that for? I still have a bit of soreness around my incisions, but not much real pain but off and on. The only really issue I seem to have is BM. I know TMI.. but it is horrid.

It's a JP drain,  has a little bulb on it.  My surgeon routinely puts one in to drain from around the stomach area on the left side.  I have to empty it a couple of times a day but where it's inserted is sore but it comes out Wed. I'm not having any trouble having a BM but it's all runny and oh it smells terrible!!!  There's TMI!!! Glad you are doing well!

Thanks!  If you don't mind me asking, what is your current stage of the post op diet?  Is it going OK for you?

I am still on liquid diet, I am doing pretty well actually. Everything is staying down with no problem. I am on this until Monday, then onto puree.
