I'm going to send you all my best and keep you in my prayers.  I'll be out of town Monday through Wednesday, but hope to get on once a day to see if any of our post ops or newly operated upon have checked in!

Good Luck to everyone, I'm sorry that I missed the chat. My prayers that everything goes well and you have a speedy and as painless a recovery as possible. Update on me - I got my insurance approval but unfortunately I won't be able to count myself as truly a December groupie - I haven't got my date yet but it's looking like January for me. I can't think of a better way to start off the new year though

Congrats on getting your insurance approval!!  You can still be December groupie; we even have someone who had surgery in November and is going great.  Just think, you will benefit from our experiences!

I think some nerves are to be expected.  Focus on the end result, and how hard you worked to get this far.

Please let us know how you are doing as soon as you feel up to it!

Hi I just joined the group.  My surgery is scheduled for December 18th.  Nervous and excited.

Welcome, we are glad you found us!   I'll add your name to our list now.

I go the day before you.  I'm excited, not really nervous at all.  It probably comes from the fact that I used to be an RN and worked in an ICU (we also served as the recovery room after hours for emergency surgeries).  I think nerves are perfectly normally - especially this close to surgery.

What kind of prep are you having to do?

Karen

Nine days on liquid diet.  I am on day three.  So far so good.   I have a class tomorrow then meet with the surgeon.  I am pre registered and spoke to a nurse in a phone review of my health and meds etc.

I have to bring my bipap machine with me.  I have sleep apnea, severe gastric disease, high blood pressure and borderline diabetes.  I am looking forward to alleviating, if not removing, these issues after surgery.  I wish you the best for your surgery.  I am glad I found this group, too.

I was allowed to continue my own liquid diet up to the operation, because I had lost over 10% of my body weight since my initial sets of consultations in early October.  It's pretty easy for me too.

I finished up my pre-op yesterday, with a follow up with my GI *****commended the surgery: my esophagus is rotting away due to severe GERD and I have severe gastroparisis.  This is supposed to help if not cure both.  I also have hypertension, sleep apnea (I have to bring my CPAP with me), degenerative arthritis.

I wish you all the best too.  We'll have to stay in touch and compare notes!

Absolutely. Wow we have some of the same problems. My esophagus was starting to show precancerous cells so I knew I had to do somwthing to stop the GERD from getting worse. We are definitely taking control to improve our bodies and lives. Thank you. I feel energized and ready for my surgery.
