And just in time, I've been preparing for this surgery for 6 months and now right around corner on December 3rd. I had been occasionally reading the msg boards but never posting till my surgery was finally approved on November 21st. I was worried bout disappointment since first time was denied. So in rush to get all my ducks in a row. Going to coscto today to buy protein powder and muscle milk light (hope they taste okay). Then buy some slightly smaller underwear and vitamins. So silly, after reading another post I been worried bout underwear falling off. I plan on using safety pins and belts till I can't, and maybe getting some stretch pants at a thrift store but new fitted underwear seems important lol. Also preparing by cleaning my house top to bottom, so tempted to start organizing clothes.. but think I'll wait for that :) I have a RL friend that's gonna be doing surgery hopefully in February or March. How have you guys been preparing yourself mentally or physically?

Dottie,  I think the liquid diet has been a great introduction to the new lifestyle we are about to start.  It hasn't been too bad.  I'm on day   #10.  Surgery is Wed for me.  I told everybody I was having surgery, so I've been able to talk freely about it.  Everyone has been so supportive.  Good luck!

Dottie, Welcome to the group. I am glad to hear you have a date set. I am scheduled 12/9. Remember it is normal to have nerves and 2nd thoughts and to be emotional. I have read many posts from vets that say its all normal. Keep telling yourself how beautiful you are, and your beauty deserves to be shown in a healthy body. This time next week you will be all done. Enjoy the road to your new life. Please keep us updated.

Dottie,

I'm glad you found us.  Feel free to post openly about anything that is on your mind.  We are a small yet very supportive group.

Mentally I have told myself I already have my pouch, and have eating as if I were post op.  I've been on a mostly liquid, high protein diet since early October.  I've done so well I don't have to do the 2 week Opti Fast program before surgery.

Physically I've tried to up my exercise.  The PT I met with gave me a serious of strength training exercises to do with exercise bands.

You'll be in my prayers - your surgery is SO soon!

Dottie, tomorrow's your surgery, yay! I'm sure you're excited, and maybe a little nervous, but you have everyone here pulling for you. Here's to smooth sailing, easy recovery, and having to buy new underwear soon and often!

So glad to have you here...and so excited for you for your big day tomorrow. Prayers to you and the surgery team. Can't wait to hear about your experience. Make some room on the bench for those of us coming behind.
